Dual SuperPi is for stability. For benchmarking, a single SuperPi 1M test is enough. If you ran two, each would score the same. Learn2Play kid.
You're missing my point. Conroe (unicorn) supposedly has a shared L2 cache. Super PI is a very L2 cache intensive program. You are getting scewed results by only running a single PI because that one instance of PI is able to use all of the L2 cache. If you ran dual then the cache would split it resources to both cores effectively decreasing your PI runs by 4-5 seconds on the 1M test.

How do you know both would score the same if an intance was run on each core? Would the core split it's L2 evenly? How will this affect multi-threaded applications. I'm tired of seeing benchmarks of a dual core CPU exploiting it's shared L2 in single benches. I want to see some real world dual benches.

Conroe isn't a single core processor with a 4Mb cache so I expect to see some benches that show what the processor is meant for.

I know it does in high end systems, but I think my graphics card is more powerful than my processor, or at least thats what I think the lag must be from.

Hmm, that's a tough one. I'd say they're just about perfect for eachother actually. Which is bad for you since you don't gain any performance from upgrading either one. But look on the bright side - You aren't losing any performance to bottlenecks! Lol.

But if you had to upgrade something, I'd say go with a videocard first.

Looking at this...I'd stick with my X2 AMd.

O here we go again :wall: :blabla:

I think you should be fine. 6600GT isn't too too powerful.

They prove a bottleneck and no performance increase by going to a faster processor.

a bunch of squiggly lines doent really prove anything.

In that situation, your processor is likely bottlenecking your videocards, lol. YOU would actually be one of the few people to benefit from a faster CPU if you wanted one. Like a Conroe. But I wouldn't recommend building a new system just for the better CPU while you have that system.

If you have a good socket 939 system I wouldn't worry about upgrading.

    Ain't that the truth. :)

That article on [H]ardOCP was amazingly AMD biased. I'd always thought of Kyle Bennet as a very respectable and fair reviewer, but that faith is all but gone now. The review was so biased, that [H]ardForum's own members went berserk over it. You should see the mayhem that review caused in the Intel section of the Forum, it was amazing.

Anyone who pays attention while reading that review will notice numerous snide comments that are meant to insult Intel while pumping up the AMD fanboys.

The MAIN complaint isn't against the results. [H]ardForum is one of the most widely-respected enthusiast Forums on the internet. Those guys know what they're talking about, and they've always known about the GPU bottleneck.

The complaint stems from the fact that in practically every AMD processor review prior to this Conroe review, Kyle Bennet happily turned down the resolution for those processors and let them shine. Readers and Forum Members (including myself) are extremely upset at the fact that Kyle effectively crippled the Conroes by inserting a GPU bottleneck into the equation. There have been numerous suggestions put forth by members to improve the review and make it more fair and accurate (all of them while keeping the results), they they've all been ignored.

[H]ardOCP was my second-favorite review website. But none of us saw the fanboyism because AMD was in reality the clear winner at the time. Because of that article, it's taken a serious nosedive in the rankings. I doubt I'll ever take that website seriously again. I don't suggest going there unless you're knowledgeable enough to see through all the BS that you're going to see.

If anyone's curious, these are just two of the dozen threads that were posted on [H]ardForums relating to the article. Note that the second one is in the AMD Forum, so you'll hear a lot of AMD fanboyist comments in there. But note too that the second thread also provides links to previous AMD reviews that Kyle has done, and that he gladly turned down the resolutions for.

Would the Conroe Gaming Review be ok with these changes?
If HardOCP isn't AMD biased, then what's up with this?

A Dual X1900XTX Crossfire or Dual 7900GTX SLI system. Yea, it's neither easy, nor practical to remove that bottleneck. It's been that way for a long long time now, and probably will be. I could explain the bottleneck in more detail if someone asks, its kinda long.
