new os

Hi i am having problems with my current os which is xp home edition sp1 like i cant install sp2 on it and sometimes wont let me install new drivers so i would like to buy a new os and put it on there instead pls can you help

p.s. what is the best os for gaming?

Yes you can install SP2, there is no need to buy a new OS. What OS you have doesn't really make a diffrence in gaming.

sry i meant i cant

anyway i dont see any point in buying a new one i just need your help into installing sp2

i installed it off windows update and after i installed it it asked me to restart windows for the changes to take effect so i did and when it was starting up it said windows could not start due to hardware or software change pls can you help

It could be any of a million problems. I can't help you without any more info. Can you enter through safe mode?

i can enter through safe mode thats what i did then i did a system restore to before i installed it

That will integrate SP2 into your copy of XP, and you then install using the disk you made.

I second this advice. Mine is slipstreamed and works beautifully.

1.windows xp home edition sp2 upgrade retail £90
2.windows xp home edition inc sp2 retail £160
3.windows xp home edition sp2 oem £60

which version do i need?

I would get the WinXP inc SP2 retail £160. You can get the oem, but you can only install it on one PC ever.
