couple things. and I don't know your budget so stay with me.

the 7600GT's have been having quite a few problems. not as much as the 7900's but still some. if you can swing another $100 go for the 7800GT.

Western Digital Raptor Drives OWN! I have two of them in my PC and love them. I have the 74Gb ones but you can always get a single 150Gb drive.

PSU should be fine.

that mother board and that CPU will EASILY run the sounds. you can put the money you have for the sound card into something else. like the hard drive or video card.

other than that you shouldn't have a problem. I'll tell you though I only get like between 65 and 85 fps on my system with everything on high, 4xAA and 1280x1024 res.

so you can probably expect like 45-60 probably with what you're looking at using those same settings.

ya.. that sound card is pretty cheap

anyone have any recomandations for a differnt sound card under $70?

This is an AM2 procesor (the new set)

On july 24th it will drop from $300 to $150 (give or take a little)

honestly, like I said that sound card probably wouldn't do anything more than the onboard would do. hell the onboard might even be better.

just an FYI, if you don't mind playing with headphones (I love it) get a pair of decent USB headphones from zalman or plantronics and they will do the processing for you. most USB headphones have a processor on them. but if not then just save the soundcard money or like I said put it into the video card. I totally understand being on a tight budget. you just have give everything a priority.

I have headphones but only use it for the MIC part...
Speakers are prefered, not surround sound just a pair of normal speakers..

Sooo... any suggestions on a new soundcard?

and I still need some building + overclocking guides

you kow what. considering you're going with just 2.1 speakers and if you really don't want to go with the onboard sound then just stick with that one. anything more expensive is going to be leaning more towards 7.1 technology and since you're not doing that it would just be a waste of $$.

mate i got the same processor and graphics card so i know how good it is i can play bf2 on max settings at 60fps and 55-60 fps when on 64 player map
and i can also play all other games max out (exept oblivion but thats a demanding game)

oh yeh it does go higher than 60 but it never goes lower also anytihng above 20-30 in any game is enough

Danny are you using a sound card or just the onboard sound?

I still say with that X2 processor just put the money into something else. specially if you're only doing 2.1
