I've got the game, but it goes through the back to desktop nightmare scenario. The go-back-to-desktop case is the case that you always wish doesn't happen when you put in your brand-new, all-wrapped-up-and-tidy, saved-up-all-year-for, and drove-47-miles-to-get game into your drive. Goddamnit.

The card can run HL2 at FULL SETTINGS! Why oh why can't it run this?

Wait.. No, It's AGP. At least the NVIDIA website says the "NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4200" is AGP.

No your card cannot run this game.

I believe that card has 1.2 shaders and bf2 needs at least 1.3.

Sorry man. I just googled it just now and it seems that some people are reporting the game not running at all.

I have an ATi X800XT (AGP) Platinum in my other computer and it can run BF2 at highest detail with 6xAA (ATi only) Just incase you want to get a new card.

I'm running an X600 (PCI-E) in this computer here and it can manage medium.

Go and buy a new card. If you have AGP then try a GeForce 6800 or better.

Yep. Plus i think it's only a DX8 card and DX10 will be out soon, so the DX9 cards will rapidly come down in price, so maybe that's when he should get a new card?

Yes it can be done. BF2 will run on a Ti 4200, but the graphics are terrible. I have an old backup computer that has a Ti4200 and I can run BF2 on it.

I am currently at work so am supplying this info from memory - it may not be 100% accurate.

There is a program that you have to load first that will fool the system into thinking you have a pixel shader 1.3 capable card, or it may be a DirectX 9 compliant card. I shall have a look and supply some more info later tonight when I get home from work.

While it will work, it is not really worth playing since the graphics are really, really bad. Hope this helps.

graphics arent the most important thing about a game, I have a Gforce 5500 pci, and have everything on extreme low, but Ive been playing this game since last july and I still love it

Plus, when you have crap graphics, you really enjoy the game at first....Then when you finally upgrade your card and switch to the highest detail, it's like a whole new game and you have even more fun!
