Upgrading from 1GB to 2GB meant the difference between medium and medium/high graphics settings for me. If only a had bettwe than a P4 2.4GHz processor.

      Go for it, dude.

Even going from 1GB - 1.5GB I noticed a difference. If you're fed up of having to wait, its well worth it...

You all suck. I had to upgrade from 512mb to 1gb. I dont have that kind of money to just by a buttload of ram. Although I did need a harddrive, so I got a SATA that was cheap. and THAT alone got me like 2nd or 3rd person in the server each time. That improved loading time more than my ram did.

I try to explain how only 3d programs benefit from more than 2 gigs...but these kids just insists otherwise depsite numerous professional testings showing exactly the opposite.

It really boils down to a psychological error in their brains. It is called denial. People often go through this when they spent money on something not needed. It is a need to justify the purchase within their own mind, nothing more. Denial and justification.

3-4 gigs is for SERVERS and PROFESSIONAL 3D PROGRAMS ONLY. Your penis will NOT increase in size from having more than 2 gigs...period. Full length and girth is provided from 2 gigs.

                    Re: Battlefield2 RAM

                    Greetings all,

I find BF2 uses about 1G on my system with 1.5 G total.

1.5G or 2G is a good amount for BF2 - I agree that upgrading to 3G or 4G will not improve BF2 at all.

It IS possible to disable your swap-file, many players have done it - it CAN help. But beware, it CAN also cause issues. Do not disable it unless you have plenty of RAM.

I'm with you...I was basically saying give it up. It's not like any of those people actually ran benchmarks before and after. They bought it, installed it, and said wow! That's it :)

you have 1gb thats why :P

seriously even if you had 10gb ram and disabled the page file, you wouldnt see any real benefit and you may still get errors as some things will want a SMALL amount of virtual memory, even if they dont use it really.

3-4 gigs will be the norm for games before you know it. I'd call it an investment. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

recent games barely use 1gb, i think bf2 is the only one out that needs more. so its gonna be a LONG time before 3 or 4 gig is needed, hell its gonna be a while before other games need 2gb!! (btw bf2 is poorly coded hence the high usage)

When that day comes my friend, we will all be using DDR3 or DDR4. Spending money now on something to not be used for another 2 years is wasteful and stupid.

I think you've smoked too much
