Great point. People have forgotten that with gobs of memory you have the freedom to keep as many programs as you want open and alt+tab between them freely. Wanna play BF2 while winamp, firefox, aim, virus scanner, firewall and mIRC is open? You need tons of ram. Not everyone needs to multitask but once you get used to it you won't go back!

a friend of mine has to sign off AIM and shut down a couple other things to play counterstrike because he only has 512Mb right now and can't afford to upgrade. it's not hard to do that, it's just a pain in the butt. Hell with counter strike I've actually left photoshop open to process about 50 or so photos I had taken and still had plenty of power left to go in and play a round of CS at the same time. haha.

Hey, I have this kind of system now.

Processor: Amd Athlon XP 3200+
RAM: 2x512MB KINGSTON DDR400 CL3
GFX: Sapphire X800XL 256Mb AGP
HDD: Maxtor 120GB 8mb
Right now, I am getting 20 to 35 fps on 32 or higher player amount server, singleplayer gives me about 40-60fps, with medium/low setting. On everything @ low setting is gives me 50-80 fps. BF2 is unplayable for me now, and I am considering buying 2x 1gb kingston DDR400 sticks, would that help? Would I get over 50fps all the time?

Oh, and there's also A-data or Twinmos ram in my sights, are they good manufacturers?

Anyone?
