    Battlefield2 RAM

    Hey guys,

One question: Would improving my RAM from 1GB to 2GB improve my performance? If so.. by how much?

Buying the RAM would cost £60.00, would it be worth it?

    Thanks in advance guys.

2gig of RAM makes a big difference in load times and verifying data. It should mean your one of the 1st if not the 1st in game instead of almost last.

It also may enable you to run a higher detail or it will play a lot smoother at the detail you currently run. A lot of people with 1 gig or less get some stutter at the start of the game, that will disappear also.

2gb would be really nice for this game. It is so ram intensive, the more the merrier.

I did the switch a couple months ago, 2 gigs helps a lot.

Woot! This is good news. I just ordered some RAM (after 2 voided transactions ). Should be here early next week.

I guess if anyone is really interested, I could run FRAPs and post before and after information.

If you experience any "stutter" when turning quickly or moving from one point on a map to another, or while flying/driving, adding RAM can really smooth out the flow of the game. I went from 1GB to 2GB and would never go back.

It also helps with load times like others have said.

However.... I would suggest NOT increasing your settings when you get the new RAM. If you can live with the current visual quality of your game but want a SMOOTHER experience, get the extra RAM and leave the video settings as-is.

You may be able to handle bumping up the texture quality a little but dont expect miracles.

I have 4 gb and its a big jump from 2. but if you cant afford 4gb, 2gb will be just fine.

2GB helps a LOT with loading and verifying as others have said, it even raises FPS at times, especially if you are usually laggy, it helps a lot.

It makes a fantastic difference in verifying client times, and the 1 min of lag period you can get with 1 gig when starting a round dissapears. I just upgraded, cost £65 and was well worth it.

One word of caution though - make sure you get exactly the same type and manufacturer as the RAM you already have. I had 1 gig of PC3200 and got another 1 gig of corsair value PC3200, but the whole lot now shows as running at PC2700 when I boot.. I'm guessing that was because my original gig wasn't corsair, so will prob have to replace my old sticks with more of that to get it all running at the same speed.
