    Hey fellas

As a previous poster said your card should provide tons of performance, no probs. I reckon you should try to see what's wrong with it as opposed to buying something else as you may have the same problems with that one too.

I have a vested interest here actually as I was planning on buying a new pc with an XFX 7900gt Extreme card so would like to know how you get on otherwise I may have to rethhink what card I'm getting.

Have you tried out 3Dmark and compared your score to the benchmarks posted on various review sites? That's a good place to start.

The factory OC'd 7900s are having problems, ESPECIALLY XFX ones. It seems that they OC differently to the 7800s, but Nvidia forgot to tell the board partners

Alot of people are experiencing artifacting in windows and games after a few weeks, so it might be best to go with a reference speed card.

Bit OT in relation with the OP's topic , but thought I'd warn ya

Oh really? it's interesting to get that confirmed because I've been trawling the boards the have kind of got that impresson myself. I've an inch away from spending £1500 on a monster 3XS PC from Scan (www.scan.co.uk) as I can't be arsed to build my own anymore and the only choice of vid cards is..

Oh that's REALLY weird. Yesterday the only Nvidia card choices were various flavours of XFX, hence me being a little hesitant. However, today, a new choice has appeared, a 512Mb Gainward 7900GT Mem 1400 MHz, GPU 550 MHz. So, it's lower clocked than the XFX's, exactly what I wanted plus it's got 512 meg of memory. I'd much rather have a slightly slower, rock stable graphics card than a faster flaky one. How bizarre is that that is appeared the very day I'd more or less made up my mind to buy it. The only other choice is a 512MB Sapphire PCI-E ATI X1900 XT GDDR3 but I prefer Nvidia. You reckon the Gainward is worth going for (and sorry to hijack this thread for my own purposes).

          This is a thought.

Are you loading up BF2 with the newest patch? I'm wondering if this a performance issue with 1.3.

Try uninstalling BF2 and loading it with no patches. If your performance is markedly improved, you might be able to narrow down your trouble shoot.

I have always been an ATI guy so i guess i will go back to the other side. Like someone else said , get the x1900xt 512MB and overclock that to the x1900xtx speeds.

I guess i expected too much from this card.

Yes it is the patch. My 6800gs runs the same as my old 6600. I only get low fps in bf2. In every other game I can crank of the settings and get good FPS.

Yea i am going to do the more powerful x1900xt. From there i will overclock the 1900 and i should be more then happy. Just about every review on this car is a positive.

my XFX 7900GT EE isnt performing as well as it should be also, im not to sure though as it could be the rest of my system that is holding it back.

I just don't get it. I did a format before the install of windows so i know there is no driver conflicts. I just think the XFX card isn't what i expected. I wanted to orginally go with the ATI 1900xt in the beginning but wanted to give Nvidia a try and i read this card was a nice card and could be overclocked easily. I don't even want to give this card anymore of my time. I figure return it now while i am still within the return policy.

If i try and benchmark it avlot and figure it out the card will go out of the return policy.
