Ditch the LCD monitor, it's max rez is 1280x1024.

Why build a computer then buy a monitor that can't display 10% (or more) of it's potential? Higher resolutions look better then the highest AA and AF settings at much lower resolutions. Even if you can't go higher then the monitors max resolution, on your next upgrade you'll wish you had gotten something different. Pop a 7900gt into your present set up, and that LCD becomes an anchor around the neck of your picture quality.

Buy a CRT, it will have a higer max rez, and cost you a few dollars less, and you can be garraunteed it will not have any ghosting or aritifacts or other such things associated with lower end LCDs.

If your on a budget your gaining nothing with an LCD. Put the $20.00 saved towards a better case. It's a win win situtation.

Ehh...Dont really like what you picked out and the case wouldnt even work! The suggested PSU for a 7600 GT I believe needs over 400 Watts....and that mobo is too expensive for me..

My biggest advice on the conroe wait, is if your a big gamer, and you want to take advantage of the lazy summer months.Conroe will be a hell of a lot faster than netburst, but that does not automatically translate into massive FPS boosts, and massive suddenly unexplainable skill in your games...lol If you want to actually have a new computer to use this summer, buy now, and upgrade to Conroe in 6 months to a year or whatever.

To get conroe you are talking Mid august for avaliability, if newegg has them in stock maybe first week of august. If your a student, well you just blew 75% of your gaming time this summer.

Another comment on your build, the mobo is crap, ECS is a budget brand, and you will get a budget experience. You should aim for an Asus, they are almost always the best for non super enthusiast boards. I personally think Asus is probably one of the best for everyone, except people who want a DFI mobo. There are exceptions, but as a general rule of thumb.

I'd like to point out that if you do want to get Conroe, you will need to get a motherboard that supports it. Just any 775 board won't do. The 965 chipset will be the main chipset that can run it once it comes out, and the 975 can run it with some modding. But that modding involves soldering and stuff, which would be a bit too freaky for me to do on a $200 piece of equipment.

So yeah, if you buy now, just know that you will need a new motherboard for Conroe

Right now, only Intel's "BadAxe" 975X chipset motherboard supports it, and even then, only if you have Rev.304. If you want it, you'll have to call in early and make sure you're getting the right one.

As for avaliability for Cornoe, yea, Intel's roadmaps show that its going to be like 20-25% of the total shipments, but people seem to forget how large Intel is. Just the 20-25% of Conroe shipments is likely to be more processors than AMD produces in entirety from its 2 manufacturing plants! Availibility will not be a problem, trust me.

@ twsmit; I don't get what you're saying. If you buy now and upgrade to Conroe, your system that you buy now will go to waste. I say get your hands on Conroe as soon as possible, thats what everyone else plans to do.

Pick up a i865 board in a few weeks, and pop in a conroe chip down the line. People micro analyze CPU's too much. AMD is better than Intel, and Conroe will be better than both, but its still all relative. Getting a fast and cheap Intel today is still a "fast" computer, slower that other stuff, but not horrible.

Sir. 4thebeavers, I got 350W PSU on my ATI 9800Pro, works like a charm, DELL PSU that is... I am telling you as long as this stuff not made in China, 400W will be plenty, some PSU dosen't simply get the amount of Watt thats on the label... In theory 90% of all PC dosen't need more then 300W, it's just pll. buy crappy cheap PSU, thats why they need like 600W just to keep up with 300W supply.

On the mobo, ASUS P5WD2-E Premium Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail, spend a little bit more money on motherboard, you wouldn't gonna need to chage it for another decade, all the other parts can be upgraded with the time

You mean the 965 chipset? Conroe-compaitble motherboards aren't likely to come out that much sooner than Conroe. A week earlier, at the most. Anything you buy right now, or even in the next 30 days won't be compatible with Conroe.

If he buys anything other than a Conroe right now, it will be a waste of money, as the base Conroe is $183 and is close enough to the FX-60's performance to scare AMD.
