yes youre psu is holding you back read the box that came with youre psu it will tell you 350minimum or in youre case 300(minimum is a cpu with 1 hardrive and 1 cdrom) more hardrives and extra fans take up more power.

thats one reason i would never buy dell.

i have a 6600gt and on the box it says 350 minimum and just like bf2 says on the box 1.7ghz minimum(we all no its better to have more than the bare minimum) and as stated in another post check the 12v rail and make sure its 20amprage or higher :)

you will see the differnce then.

oh and make sure you defrag every 2 days to keep that hardrive runnin smooth :)

ok i have a pny 7600gt and i get maxed settings on 1280x1024 with 60 fps

          my system specs are

amd athlon 3800+ x2 dual core processor
          ecs kn1 sli motherboard
          4 x pny 512mb
          80gb hd (10000rpm)
          250gb hd (7200rpm)
          pny geforce (7600gt)
          hiper award winning 580w psu

i got my 7600gt from pcworld (stupid mistake £150) so i guess that u should get the hiper 580w psu its pretty good (£60) and you will be fine go and get it from www.pcworld.co.uk here is a screenshot of what my game looks like

Nobody does. Playing with 16 bots on a 16 player map is not as hungry as a 64 player server with tank/jets etc.

                          Re: 7600GT fps probs

well for me I had to cut out a little hole so that the case would not hit the power on button. I would reccommend a Antec truepower 550 watt. Why you ask? Because it has 2 12v rails at 19 amps. What this does is it supplies even ammounts of power to your video card and cpu. With just one 12v rail not all power goes to your video card.

Just to make this clear, are you guys sure its my psu because i thought i would experience random restarts if it was?

*EDIT* I turned dynamic lighting and shadows off and now my fps is always above 30. It weird though because i can never get a stable fps, one minute ill have 70 and the next ill be down to 30.

The PSU may or may not really help your performance.... You just really need a more powerful one if you want to keep it from frying up your computer a few months from now.
