no, becuase then that would mean you wouldn't be here arguing.

There IS a gain in performance when you overclock for BF2.

Show me the evidence that when you overclocked, you didn't see a gain in performance. Show me the graphs and benchmarks that you won't see a gain.

If you come here spewing B.S., you better back it up.

so, you want to redeem yourself? Show us the evidence.

        here you go:

oc'ing an AMD X2 means more FPS, and there is my proof.

Using the info you provided, it is clear to any SCHMUCK who can read that the performance gain was NIL...overclocking a processor from 2.0 to 2.7 resulted in less than 3 FPS at 1200x1600 with NO AA....hardly a performance gain in BF2 for the amount of heat and trouble. Go flame elseware, you tards.

Don't friggin jump in when you were not in this to begin with, and don't even try to say I started this flame-war. If anything, lil-jim and I were having an arguement or difference of opinion, and YOU TWO have decided to jump in as a couple of TROLLS trying to escalate the discussion.

Yes, I know people like to O/C...I do it too. Start over. Read the beginning. Help a poster, not look for someone's answer to slam because you want to look like you know something when you don't. O/C-ing your video card is WAY safer for the novice than is the processor. If you disagree, fine. But stop the flaming and accusing ME of being the a$$hole.

 you'd see the same gain with a slight overclock of a video card. Why only gain 3-5 fps with only a slight video card overclock, when you could oc both and gain a 8-10 fps boost?

I'm BadToad. Yes, I found my way in here helping a poster with a simple question which I provided a simple answer to and was jumped by some a$$holes trying to prove something (who the hell knows what?).

              That answer your question, tough-guy?

I think everyone would be happier if you scurried back over to the support forum. This is a totally different ballpark son.

1)Google-search for Guru's "Coolbits" registry entry (just type guru and coolbits)

                  2)Install as directed, reboot

3)Now right click on desktop, select properties, select nvidia, should now see OVERCLOCK tab...open it and click accept when you agree that it can harm your vid card, void warranty, bla, bla, bla...move tab to manual overclocking...start playing around with it (go slow, and only adjust under 3d, DO NOT ADJUST 2D)...test changes each time, going up about 5 points each time until failure. Save. Try it out in-game. If you like it, and there are no problems (pixelation, heat, etc) go back in and check the box "Apply settings at startup". Enjoy!
Let's see...I answered the guys question as best as possible (as safe as possible) in a forum as I am not there to physically SHOW him how to get into his particular BIOS, adjust and test as necessary.

I said to not worry about the CPU as it is fast enough. That is opinion.

I said he would not notice any difference from the dual core. That is fact supported by all of you...DUAL CORE don't mean diddly in BF2.

So I recommended the O/C of the vid card, AND provided straightforward directions how. Notice I did not overwhelm him with 'Rivatuner' or custom drivers or any of that...this is for simplicity sake.

Is this not clear to you? Why do people like you try to jump on others with nonsense? Pathetic really.

It appears to me to be the minors with folks like you trolling about. What exactly have you contributed to this topic but hassle? Funny, when I do a search on you, I see nothing much but more of the same BS. Nothing to offer, only slams at others expense. You are nothing but a troll.

I will have to disagree to some extent. The video card of his, the ASUS EN7600GT, has more potential for performance gain in BF2 with mild-to-moderate O/C. It is a very cool-running card and chip design with a high-temp threshold. I have overclocked this card on my friends machine with VERY positive results. This improves FPS as well as visual quality. It is the best bang-for-the-buck you might say. I agree that an O/C of the CPU would add slightly, but not to load times or to game-play differences. WE differ in opinion it would seem. So be it, but don't flame for a difference of opinion and experience.

This confirms EXACTLY what I said on page 1...CPU only matters when running no AA, low AF, medium settings. Not a single test in that article included AA.

Of course, that was the sole intention of the article, to test the CPU only. And the way to test a CPU using a 3d game is by lowering its settings to anything but that of what anyone would actually be playing in! :p

The conclusion is you are both right. There is no point O/Cing the CPU or the GPU. The money spent on the components to do either(aftermarket coolers) would have been better spent on a GPU of higher caliber.

lets see, trust jimmy and wreck, who I know both have vast overclocking experiences, and have helped out in the Tech support forums a great deal or some random guy who decides to randomly post one day in the forums.....

It is a shame that he is in Texas.
