I've reinstalled BF2 numerous times. But this time my computer wont even read the disc so I can click Install. All 3 discs.. How do I fix this?
Also noticed in add and remove programs bf2 is still showing, with a different icon @ 11.74Mb and can not remove it..

AMD athlon 3400+
64 bit 2.41Hz
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb
1.00GB RAM
40GB still available on harddrive

You might have to do a manual uninstall - this can be found on the EA support site or on this forum.

But it also sounds like you have scratched disks - borrow some from a friend if you can or *shock horror* download them. EA actually will replace the disks, costs $10 from memory.

Cheers, have you had this before? I doubt all 3 discs are scratched, and if so it would load the start up on at least one disc.. oh well. I think it's more to do with it refusing to fully uninstall. I'd rather hold onto my discs to I find out about this problem first ay

I have an uninstalling problem. haha weird.

You need to do a manual uninstall. Search the forum or the EA support site on how to do this.

Have you tried going to MyComputer, Right clicking on the drive with the cd and Choosing explore, Then double clicking on the Setup icon, Not the autorun icon.

Go to EA's site and try their support FAQ, its in there I know. Basically you have to remove 3 registry keys and manually delete your BF2 folder.

Thanks mate. Fully uninstalled now and is removed from Add/Remove programs list also.

Now to the next problem, My computer not reading the discs still..

Is there a setting that turns off your CD drives.. because I just tryed an Audio CD that plays in my CD player and my PC didn't even pick it up in My Computer..

Does your device manager show up your CD drives? And have you been using any software to disable your drives to play pirated games?

Otherwise you might have a faulty CD drive.

Battlefield 2 and Half Life 2 are the only games I've really wanted to play in the past couple months and they are the Original versions so I think I'm ok there.

Device Manager shows:

DVD/CD ROM DRIVES
! -_NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A

(Both with exclamations)

? OTHER
-ETHERNET CONTROLLER
-MASS STORAGE CONTROLLER
-MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER
-RAID CONTROLLER

(They all have questions marks with exclamations)
(for all - this device has no drivers installed)

NO PLUGS ARE LOOSE

Looks like you may need to re-install your chipset drivers.You should have this on a disk that came with your MB,or down load them from the manufactuers website.Good luck!

Agreed with voodoomedicine, it looks like you've lost your IDE or SATA controller drivers along with some other IO stuff, so reinstall all your motherboards chipset drivers.

Me and a friend have opened it up at work and having a look for anything I missed last night. Also taking out 2 tonne of dust build.. think i may have to do that more frequent.

Anyway, cheers for the help, will see if I can today while I have more help

I'm in full agreement with many to just reinstall windows, but I'd still like the chance to rip what I can to disc first. Else, yeah, there goes every downloaded file, install, friends photos, movies, Cd's.. guttered if I had to

Update:

Code 41. Windows has found the device driver but can not find the device.

So, google it to the microsoft errors support page. Try there solutions. Am certain the devices are plugged in internally. Tryed uninstalling, scanning and shows up again, NO option for a reinstall. Also, tryed their updating drivers options, it declines and shows up with Code 41 again. End of solutions.
