I use 2 nVidia 7800GTX cards in SLI. Have no problems here. I have all the settings turned up to the max, game looks crystal clear. I recommend them.

That's only because you don't know how to use it.

Only thing that bothers me is that it they will only be supported bij windows vista

I think you may have misunderstood. You can still use a DX10 ared with XP, it just wont support DX10. It is backwards compatible to DX9.

That depends on what your trying to do. For general desktop stuff, Windows is much eaiser to use. But when you start getting into server configs and such Linux is the king.

Come to the red camp, you know you want to.

I can run ANY BF2 map on the highest settings with 6x AA with my X800XT PE. Just think of how powerful that X1900XTX will be. *drool*

Have always used ATi, and always will.

As efficient as Windows, your right I don't but i learned the basics, and Linux bored the hell out of me. It's applications are dull, and there are too many GD versions. Not to mention th BS I had to tweak in BIOS just to get the damn OS installed. I'll remain a Microsoft Lemming ty very much :)

Had the Geforce 6600 256MB for a year and it runs all my games fine. BF2 all medium, textures high, view distance 100% and 1280 x 1024 res.

How did you get 6xAA, just go into the properties outside of the game and change from app controlled to 6x? Or is there something you do in the video.con file? Or is it something else? My 7800GT runs everything maxed out with no problems, but I'll turn it up even higher if there's a higher setting (yes I'm aware there probably won't be a huge visible difference).

Check out Nhancer ( www.nhancer.com ) it will allow you to set higher levels of AA and AF. I run 6xAA and 8XAF of BF2 with it.

And there is a great visable diffrence.

Re: ATI or nVidia for BF2?

Nvidia all the way! I have had several ATI cards over the years and the drivers are crap. Thay have caused conflicts with other non video related applications. They are also very difficult to fix and troubleshoot. I got an ATI card last year and had a lot of issues and called the tech support number and after being on hold forever and going thru all of the steps I had already done, and calling back several times and on hold forever. The issue was never resolved. I took the card back got a Geforce and no problems. To make matters worse. The tech numer is in Canada, and I got a huge phone bill ~ $40... because I did not have an international calling plan, and did not know it was international. I was flaming mad. I will never buy another ATI card again. I have a 6800gt that plays BF2 great and no other issues. Buy Nvidia!

But nvidia hardware can't do 6xaa, it's not possible. (At least I thought it was). Nvidia hardware can do 2x,4x, and 8x, whilst ati does 2x,4x,and 6x.

With an ATI card 6xAA is a native option in Battlefield 2's video settings.

I like ATI for their price to performance. The catalyst driver thingy is a little annoying but thats what ATI tray tools is for . I've never had any problems with drivers or ATI cards and my X850XT runs bf2 beautifully.

sometimes games with graphics manufacturers have been optimised to run with ATI/NVIDIA cards

                                two examples

DOOM 3 engine- NVIDIA card come out on top

HL2- ATI cards do the best
