the ATI would work perfect for ur needs, onlly thing is that it can run kinda hot... still, i like the overclocking options more of ATI than NVIDIA, the only thing w/ the x1300 is that u'll have 100% view and all but one on high or u will lag (not often/ but maybe @ least once per 2 games)

You make the comparisons, I don't have to point it out.

Sapphire makes video cards using ATI's GPU, so of course, the boards are going to look the same.

if you want to compare, get a card from ATI and a card from an Nvidia manufacter, such as eVGA, BFG, etc.

Actually ATI make all the cards, the different companies just put different coolers and stuff on them. The PCBs are all made by ATI.

I didn't know that. I meant that he was "saying" he was comparing an Nvidia card to an ATI card, and I was just pointing out to him, that he actually wasn't, he was comparing an ATI card to an ATI card.

And also, which is the most important to have good; GPU clock or RAMDAC or Memory?

Memory count means bugger all. The FX 5500 you have would run virtually no different with 256MB RAM as it would with 128MB or maybe even 64MB. Its the chipset that matters as that determines what the card can do and how fast it pumps it out. Graphics card manufacturers commonly put lots of cheap ram on really crappy cards to make them seem more appealing, like the 5500 you have. Its 3 year old technology that was extremely average when it was released, now its probably one of the lowest spec cards you could use to run the game.

Why dont you go to the following link, see the performance difference between the cards (the 3Dmark score in the middle of the page), and make up your own mind.

That is so wrong. All ATI make are the cores and the reference design PCB, they don't even make the cards that are branded BBA (Built By ATI). All BBA ATI cards are made (or were at one time, I think it changes from time to time) by Sapphire, only difference between the two is the Sapphire is usually blue and the ATI is always red.

Really are you sure? I thought ATI just made the cards and then handed them out to be redistributed, while nvidia passed out reference designs to different manufacturers, but maybe I am wrong.

wtf? I don't see how. I could barely run it without lag on all low with 1.5 gigs of RAM. Are you referring to single or multiplayer? Anyway, more is about the only thing that helps with this card. During the time I had it I went from .512 to 1.5gb of RAM and it decreased lag alot. I also found the 77.77 drivers to work best for that card.

yeah, referring to Single Player :P, i dont play multi, i guess thats why mine works fine

Ok so because they share one design, they are all desinged by the same person.

So by that logic, in the 90's when Geo sold Toyota Camrys under the GEO name, that meant that the same person designed all Geos and Toyotas....

BTW is would help if you told us exactly what cards those are so we can see other examples of the refrence design from other manufacturers.

You guys are half right about the PCB's.

Sapphire makes PCB's for ATI when ATI cannot produce enough, fast enough. This is laregly responsible for Sapphire often being the first to bring out a reference card...at least this is the way things were 2 years ago in the 9x00 series.

It didn't come out as I thought, now I'm getting another card (HiS X1600PRO 256mb IceQ) on Wednesday, but this card has better cooling than the other one !
