7900 issues

IN all games i get around 30 fps except cs 1.6

p4 3.0 Ghz
1gb ram
100 gb maxtor sata
nvidia 7900 gt ko 256 mb pciex16
smart power II antec 450 watt ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16817103936)


a evga guy look at picture of my card and said it is damaged..

isn't my power supply more then enough powerfull to run 1 7900??
I saw somewhere someone using sli 2 7900 gt with 550 watt so dont see y i cant run 1 7900 with 450 watt.

PEOPLE told me that you need to connect the adapter that came with card to psu and to card.. But my psu came with a pcie adapter already connected but there saying i need to use one that came with card...

You have to use the one that came with the card because if you use the one from the power supply then your card will only be getting 15 or 17 amps, which is not enough for the 7900 series.

Use the adpapter that came WITH THE CARD, but be sure to plug two TOTALLY DIFFERENT cables from your power supply into the Y-adapter.

Use the cable running from your PSU. 450Watts is plenty. Have you fully uninstalled your old drivers? Chipset drivers installed? Tried a reformat just to get everything cleaned up?

I've updated everything and checked everything.. and done everything lol

Are you sure i don't have to use the adapter with card??

Yes I'm sure.

I'd go for a reformat if I were you. It can't hurt anything.

The 7900 requires 20Amps on the 12v rail. Look on your Powersupply, There is a amp chart on all PSU's. That will tell you if its up to the task. From what i'm reading at Antec the 450watt Smart Power II only supplys 15 Amps on the 12v rail, That could be an big issue. And If eVGA told you to use their adaptor its for a reason.

What problems are you having.

Low frame rates when i get near hotel in bf2 or other games too except cs 1.6. Also evga didn't tell me that some guy did there.

There is no reason the adapter would make a diffrence.

I would say RMA your card, IIRC EVGA will cross-ship.

AH... Then dont worry about the adaptor then.

Slow frame rates are usally a driver issue, You did completely uninstall the old drivers?.

Then i wont be able to refund it if i want back to newegg because what if each replacement is broken because someone went through 4 replacements and still doesnt work after he upgraded power supply + mobo. I'll just get refund then buy it again.

EDIT:::::::::::: I reformatted 3 times "FLAKMAN" So that isn't issue :/
Gonna rma tomorrow for a replacement though.

My specs below... no reason at all for me to lag... but sometimes I do..... I think it's the server...
