GamerX i would stil recommend the Asus board if this is your first build. DFI is an upper rung enthusiast board and has more potential to cause you headaches.

Additionally DFI has known issues with Corsair ram, do not get corsair value ram if your getting a DFI.

Also there is ram from G.Skill and others that is about $10+ cheaper than that corair you picked out.

Ok, I took a lot of your suggestions.

The list has been updated. I probably will keep the processor at AMD 3200+ venice becuase I can just overclock it. Take a look. I changed the graphics card, case, and ram.

Not to shabby... Not the case I would have picked but it will work fine!

          Re: Custom PC Experts, please.

Why did you just downgrade from a 7600GT to a slower and more expensive 6800???

Also you dont need Arctic Silver, the stock heatsink comes with a thermal pad preapplied.

Ok hoesntly you have totally bonkered up your build. Now its crap IMO, you have crappy ram with an over the top motherboard, and a horrible graphics card, and you just downgraded the case meh....

What? Tighter timings mean faster ram even if it's only 1-2 FPS. The ram I listed is also cheaper and comes with heatspreaders. Please tell me why he should by Corsair over the ram I listed?

The ram actualy imporoved quite a bit. It is a little cheaper, but it is the XMS series (very good ram) instead of Value Select.

The graphics chip (6800) has better numbers than the 7600GT, so why shouldn't I go for it? Can you name another graphics card for 250 or less that is better than both of them?

And I downgraded the case because I want more money for everything else. The case isnt too important.

Numbers mean squat. The 7600 GT performs better hands down.

I guess that ram will do if you manage to get that MIR back.

Everyone is a fan, but no one can explain why.

In the overclocking world you will not hear the name Corsair mentioned.

                      Re: Custom PC Experts, please.

the 7600GT is faster than the 6800Ultra, therefore faster than the regular vanilla 12 pipe 6800.

I'm with Wreck, pick up some $140-150 non corsair ram. MIR are shady and i wouldnt rely on them personally.

Also take into consideration that ram timings mean jack **** with the A64 platform. They add +/- 2-3% at most, and usually even lower performance. Same goes with memory bandwidth for the most part.

Corsair has KNOWN memory incompatibilities with DFI motherboards. As a complete n00b getting a DFI lan party is asking for trouble, and its also $20 more expensive than the Asus SLI board I picked out for you the other day. SLI is sort of a gimick, but it wouldnt hurt to have it, especially being $20 cheaper.

The DFI Ultra can do SLI, but it requires modding the chipset with a razor blade, and pencil, then calling DFI and ordering a SLI bridge. I'm not sure you want to have to go through that.

Overclocking is not for the faint of heart, especially if this is your first build. First builds need to be taken slower than people with experience IMO.

Ok ok. This is change number 94757.

I decided to get the x800 ATI graphics chip. Fark nvidia.
                        Changed my mobo to ASUS.
Kept ram at the XMS series. It has a 50 dollar rebate, and it is suposedly good ram!!

x800 card is 2 years old, why are you doing that?

The 7600GT is the BEST sub $200 card and its better than that x800, the competitor to the 7600GT is the x1800GTO which is like $230

If you are going with ATI then at least get an X1800 __ card. From GTO to XT they run from $200-$300.

Ok, I will get the x1800....the only reason im changing so much is becuase I get so many conflicting reports on what is good or not -_-

                              -Changed GPU to x1800.

                              Anything else? Hows the mobo?
