Custom PC Experts, please.

Ok, im custom building a PC. I made a thread a few days ago and I got lots of help with picking my parts (for a new desktop). After 17 revisions, I believe I have the final list of parts for my computer. Please do not recomend other parts, unless there is a seriously something wrong with what i have chosen.

What I would like you "Custom PC Experts" to do is look over what I've chosen and make sure its compatible. I know almost nothing about how these parts will go together, so some help would be nice. Thanks.

Looks decent. Have you seen the black antec P-180? It is t3h s3xy. I'd choose it over the silver personally.

Did you check that your memory is what the MOBO suggest to use? This can be an issue...I bought top end DDR2, but my MOBO did not like it...i swapped it out for "recommended" stuff and it worked a treat....so just make sure it is recommended for the MOBO.

Email your manufactors for the motherboard and memory, they might be able to tell you if they are compatible or assist you with Bios settings to make them compatible.

I was not able to view the wish list but I built a few game computers and have learned to take the time to email various vendors of parts to check for potential issues.

Put it together and find out. Besides ending up with more parts than necessary is the most common way to become addicted to building more computers.


Let me see what can i do now with this extra ram, power supply, and
video card, ahh ha I've got it all i need is another cpu, mobo and drive and i ve got another computer. LOL.

EDIT: I swapped the case color to black, which looks much much better (didnt know they even had a black version, haha). The mobo and ram seem to be compatible, from what I can tell. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know, otherwise, I'll go build!

if I had any suggestions it would be to maybe make the motherboard an nforce force Ultra, I know people are gonna say its not nessescay but it doesnt cost THAT much more. and its a little better. just a suggestion.

also, personally, if the computer is going to be for gaming, I would go with 5.1 speakers (unless, that is, you will just use those for like music, and you have headphones for gaming). other than that it looks nice, good luck.

edit: umm, i just looked at the motherboard again... is it just me... or is there no heatsink bracket around the CPU socket?!?!?!?!?!? okay, so they provide it separatly lol.

i am concerned about the choice of mobo... your case costs more that the most important part if this is going to be a gamer machine who cares what case looks like they all pretty much work the same in reality you dont even need one. donwgrade the case get better mobo or processor if $$$$ are the deciding matter

look into dfi's line of lan party especially if you overclock even if you dont they are awesome boards

First, what is your mobo, does it support PCIx16?
second, does it support 939 socket
third will it support that CPU speed
fourth what is the min and max and recommended memory


you could drop to a lesser case, unless you are dead set on that one
and bump up 100 more dollars for the 7900GT for 289

or

you could drop to a lesser case, unless you are dead set on that one
and bump up 140 more dollars for the 3800 Manchester Dual-core for 297

or

you could drop to a lesser case, unless you are dead set on that one
and bump up 75 more dollars for the 3700 ( 2.2MHZ) San Diego single-core for 235

and really get some good 5.1 speakers, unless you game with headphones, then it isnt to much of a worry

Good choice...great overclocking potential indeed. Well worth it. Hope my comments about the memory before did not throw you too much, but these days some systems are fairly dependent on the manufacturers claiming that the stuff is going to work. I thought it would have on my ASUS board, but I later find that ASUS have got deals with certain memory manufacturers...so they ensured that this memory would only work in the Mobo.

Anyway, good luck on it...you will get addicted to building after this one works out to be a sweet system

anyways, good mobo choice, very very good overclocking. I wish I had purchased a Lan party because I am having major overclocking woez.

also, if you are going to use the LP to overclock, I would get some better ram, value select aint that good for much other than basic use.

He doesn't need 'better timings' with that setup. You only need those when you're looking at a high end gaming computer.




If a thousand is all you want to spend, you might consider dropping that case for a cheaper one, like

Then throw in a couple fans instead of buying a case twice the price. If you were building a high end computer, you SHOULD get the bigger case.

If you have a little more money laying around, get a Asus A8n-SLI Premium Mobo. It's much better and I know it will support most anything you'll throw at it. It's currently $158. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131540

Also, if money still isn't an issue, I recommend the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model ADA4400CDBOX - Retail
It's a little more middle-high end versus the one you have, which is the lower end.

I also recommend a 7800 (atleast) GT, since that seems to be the second one down. Next up would be the 7800 GTX / OC , 7900 GT / X. But hey, its your money.
