No they didn't waste their time, they are wasting our money. None of the FX series is woth the premium charged.

I think AMD is getting rid of the FX line. People found out about Opterons. MBX you don't look like you're too short on pocket change so I would get the FX60.Comment

Opterons are AMD's server CPU's (as far as i know) they run at similar clock speeds to the x2 series OC well.. like the x2's and are cheap to buy.
To the OP, thats a sweet ass pc, wish i could afford it.
IMHO the FX chips are for the very rich that just like saying they have one, they are way overpriced and are far more thean 99.9% of users need.Comment

It's actually the Opteron 170s and 175s that are the best deal. The 165 is a crapshoot.Comment

Because they are not officially desktop processors, and AMD will not support them as such.
EDIT: Ok you’re talking about the FX line. They use them because they are in the business of making money, not doing what's best for the customer.
