I'd go with a lesser of a processor and overclock it, or just grab a 4800+. It's almost the same performance as the FX60 for way less money.

I'd grab a 320-400Gb WD 16mb Sata II drive for storage.

We’re sorry, but this page does not existing. Please visit our home page for more information.

Drop the Corsair and get some Mushkin Redlines, the current batch or CE-5 from Newegg are great overclockers with all sets I've seen reaching 280mhz+ at (3-3-2-5) timings.

You don't need that beefy and expensive of a PSU. I'd grab the Silverstone Zeus 750 watt for around $200.

      Re: System

I don't think he's going to be doing any overclocking so the Corsair XMS is good at 200MHz and will run 2-3-2-5.

The FX60 is only 200mhz faster than a 4800+. By getting a FX60 you may gian 2FPS in BF2. Is that worth $400?

Suit yourself, but the fact that an FX60 compared to a 4800+ is not worth it goes for any applications you can throw at it.

the FX line is a high priced media gimick

and besides overclocking a X2 4800+ 200MHz is extremly easy

No, they just charge way more for their flagship product than it's worth. The second in line is a better value.

I can see how this is going to go so I'm stepping out of this thread.

All AMD's have unlocked lower multipliers, the FX have both upward and downward unlocked mutli's. The only use I've seen for that is people who use phase change or LN2 for benchmarking where the HTT isn't sufficient to reach 3.6-3.8Ghz on those processors.

What would you use it for?

                              so true,

I easily oc'ed my 3200+ to FX-53 performance, and saved my self a lot of money by doing so.
