Where is the "I go for the better card" option???

But i would have to say that i am leaning towards Nvidia at the moment, the 7600GT and the 7900GT/X are great cards.. but i usually just set a price and get the best card under that, based on benckmarks and reviews. I dont care what brand. I have an ATI now, but my next buiild looks like it will be an Nvidia one.

Is there a difference?... My friend said that nVidia goes for like mist or background effects or something like that. And Ati goes for real detail and lighting and makes games like shiny.(If you've played Perfect Dark Zero on an Xbox 360 you know what I mean by that)

I went for nVidia because... Its the way its meant to be played.. And cuz the PS3 is gonna have a nVidia GPU.

ACTUALLY! If you have an nvidia card, and you are doing HDR + AA on a source game, it is actually Bloom. Which is a video effect meant to recreate HDR without actually doing HDR so people without x1800 or x1900 cards can do it. Its called bloom and its not ACTUAL HDR.

and i have a new answer to the thread: whichever supports HDCP and DX10

Does anyone know where to find good benchmarks of video cards? Lets say I wanted to compare an X850XT to a 7600 GT.... Which one would be better?

                  Like Hell.

Tom's Hardware Guide is about the most Intel/ATI biased site on the Internet.

Check out Anandtech, X-Bit Labs, and [H]ardOCP.

It was great when it was actually TOM running it, but he sold it off to some Intel junkies who also happened to be FanATIcs. Now its popular, but a second-rate site in my opinion.

Really depends on the price range as to what brand I'd choose. Since I don't have a budget I'd go ATI.

It also depends if you want to go with dual cards or not. If you do i think that Nvidia cards are the way to go. There are far more SLI motherboards out there than CrossFire, from what ive heard CF also has a few issues, not that SLI doesnt...

I was nVidia until my recent x850. No problems with it, it runs BF2, and that's pretty much the only 'exercise' it gets, so it's fine. I agree with above poster tho.

ATi if you prefer graphical quality above the highest possible FPS and visa versa for Nvidida.

I hope you realize that "the way its meant to be played" is entirely a marketing term, and nvidia just pays developers $$$ to have them put it in their game. Little if any actual "optimizing" is done for one card or the other. Its sadly a cheap marketing trick that seems to be working on some.
