Kinda too late. I just ordered from newegg the ram, cpu, eVga 7600gs(not the ghey one with the "passive heatsink"), Aspire X-Navigator case, and asus a8n sli deluxe mobo.
I already have the audigy 2 soundcard, monitor, input devices, and hdd. I plan to buy a 7900gt within the next 3 months.
Sorry if i sound impatient, but i have been waiting to get this comp for the longest time. right now im playing cs:s, zero hour, and Toca 3. BF2 and COD2 randomly started to play like crap about a month ago, so two of my fav's havent been dusted off in a while.
My current comp specs are as follows--( so can see why im upgrading )

POS IBM Mobo & case( 1x120mm fan)
P3 at 1~ghz
PNY GeForce 128mb 6200 AGPx4 at 375 / 675--also unlocked 4 extra pipelines
256x2 PC133 ram---mobo maxed out at 512mb
SB Audigy 2
160gb WD hdd
250W psu

as you can see, this new computer will be quite a wakeup call for my gaming life. Ill actually be able to play bf2 and CS:S at detail settings above the lowest while sustaining an FPS above 5!!!!!

I think so for the reasons listed. Its an inefficient use of your funds, and you can spend them much more wisely. In addition the PSU is a POS and will fail on you.


EDIT: Also please dont get the clawhammer its older technology from 18 months ago and it runs hotter and lacks the improvements of the revision E chips. Mainly lacking SSE3 support and the ability to run 4x sticks of ram @ DDR400. Clawhammer is forced to run @ DDR333.

1st off, i plan on buying a 600W psu from a more reputable company in the future, mabey one more sli friendly than my 500w.

Secondly, thankyou for the cpu you info because it made me feel alot better. If you didnt notice, i bought the 3500 E4 with a venice core.(plus it came with AOE3 for free)

EDIT: BTW, i noticed that the two venice cores i had to choose from were E3 and E4, with that and the voltage being the only difference. I of course bought the E4 along with the free AOE3. What exactly does the E stand for ? something to do with the mobo i assume because in one of my mobo's descriptions it says it supports cpu's up to E4 or something like that.

The E just stands for differnt revisions, it has nothing to do with the MOBO.
