Pc OverHeating

After looking through the forums and reading certain posts i found program called speedfan and i downloaded it and installed it.

The problem is i think my pc is overheating because my pc resets or goes to desktop after 5 min on battlefield 2 and oblivion.This only happens after a about 3 hours of the pc being on.

I run this program called speedfan and got some results but i dont know what they mean and dont have a clue what might be overheating in my pc.

Results ::

Fan1: 0 RPM - Temp1 : 46c
Fan2: 0 RPM - Temp2 : 66c
Fan3: 0 RPM - Temp3 : 52c
HDO : 47c

Power ::

Vcore 1.65V
+12V : 12.40V
3.3V : 3.18V
Vcc : 5.07V
Vin2 : 0.00V
5Vsb: 4.93V
Vbat: 0.00V

Anybody who knows what this means and who knows a better program to show my pc temperatures please post a link.

What is your MOBO Make and Model?

We need complete computer specs plus any aditional cooling you may have done and any over clocking your trying to accomplish.

***Again BF2 is a very demanding game and specs must be on the money
Ram and Power supply is very important for cards to run correctly

The AXP series were mini furnaces, not much of a surprise there. If you have this in a mini ATX style case, or one with no exhaust fan etc.... these temps are fairly standard.

Now if you have a well vented case, then the culpret might be something else. I would try gaming with your side door off your computer, see if that helps.

Your computer is way too hot. I'm guessing 46C is ambient, 66C is cpu, and 52C is chipset. You need to get some new case fans and a better cpu cooler. You want your max load temp on cpu at 60C and idle at 50C, hard drive under 40C.

now im not 100% sure of this program youre using ,and whether or no its giving correct temps.

any way what conserns me with the info you have provided(note i changed them to bold)is that the fans have 0 rpm ?

my 1st guess is the fan2 (66c) is youre prosseser.
please can you go in to bios (hit del when you see the boot up screen)and go to hardware moniter(it may say somthing else)but it will show you the cpu temp and fan speed.

please can you give the info that you see there.

but is the fan actualy spining on you heatsink??

on a side note i see you have a lod socket A like myself.
have you ever changed the thermal paste?

it is recomended that you change it every 12 months.
personaly i would use a silver compond heatspreader as this help cooling alot.

if you dont want to try that,then you can also go and buy a new heatsink.
this can be a little easyer.

I suggest taking the case door out. If the problem persist, try checking the CPU fan if it is running according to rpm specs. If the problem still persist, try unmounting the CPU heatsink and apply new thermal paste (i suggest arctic 5). If the problem still persist, it might be your video card that's overheating. and by the way, are you overclocking your system? If yes, try to run it on normal or standard configuration or even try running it at 333mhz or 266mhz by lowering your FSB in the BIOS to see if your board is the culprit. If you have 512mb x 2 memory, try running it with the one memory remove. After you perform these things, the last one to isolate and diagnose the problem is to replace your power supply with one working. If you dont have extra power supply, try borrowing it from a friend just to test your system and see if the your power is the real culprit. By the way, try setting your BIOS CPU temp monitor to alarm when it reach temp somewhere less than 70 degrees. If it does then its your processor that is overheating and not the other hardware. The best way to remedy this is upgrading your cooler after you tried suggestion number 2 (arctic silver). Lastly, is the problem limited to BF2 or with other games also? BF2 had issues of crushing especially with older systems, I heard.

Speedfan is a great program when configured properly. Instead of leaving everyone guessing as to what each of the three reported temps are, go into the bios and make note of any temps reported there. Then back in Speedfan, match the bios temps with the Speedfan temps.

get a new heatsink those fan speeds for youre cpu are a little slow,the lowest ive seen is 3000rpm get a new one it will help.

That CPU temp is WAYYYYY too hot. Get a new heatsink/fan and use good thermal paste (Artic Silver) and your temps will drop significantly. I don't know if that's why it's resetting, but it's very likely. If it's idling at 75*c, it's going to get a lot hotter under load.

This is a decent HSF at a good price.
