The interface speed is faster, but the actualy data transfer is no diffrent. Todays drives are limited by hardware speed limitations, not interface. 4 raptors in RAID0 still only use 144 Mb/s, there is no way you woold use more than that on a single drive...

All true. I suggested the samsung 1) because it is more than twice as big for just $16 more, and 2) 250gb in two years at 3.0gb/s will come in much handier than 120gb (definitely) @ 1.5 gb/s (maybe/likely maybe not). Think about a nice little TiVO setup, in a secondary computer maybe.

Remember, the OP is spending ~$1,000. Indicates he/she may want to hold on/reuse as many good parts as possible a few years down the road.

The wise younglings would simply say that (given realistically similar speeds) 250gb pwns 120gb. It just pwns it every time.

[edit] a downside of the samsung is the warranty is 3 years, versus 5 for the other

I know, I was just clairifying to others that 3.0 is no faster than 1.5.
