So here's the deal. For the past couple of years now, I've had this grand idea to completely remake the site design to make it look near identical to Kotaku. I had started on the layout change for the main page a while back, but never got very far with it. Obviously, since it's different software being used at both places, a true 1:1 recreation would have not been possible.

But it'd have been close. I'm talking about layout, colors, even a Kotaku-ified logo! I was thinking "Kotaku Gaming Network" or "To-taku" or something equally dumb. It was going to be "ha ha, we got bought out by Kotaku." There were going to be fake Kotaku-like usernames posting up news with some clickbait headlines thrown in and a bunch of stuff about Japanese foods and culture that always come out of left field at the actual Kotaku.

Mid-way through the day, it was going to change to the look and "feel" of Polygon. Since, you know, some people that used to be at Kotaku went to Polygon. Of course the new announcement would be that we have decided to become "Total Gaming Polygon" or something. Again, it would've been a total design makeover. At least the colors, general layout, and logo would've gotten the treatment. And again, I would've had fake Polygon-like editors posting here with fake long form articles and whatnots.

Like I said, I wanted to do this years ago. Then I kind of started to realize just how big of an undertaking it'd be. Honestly, it probably would have been much easier if the theme creation and editing system in vBulletin wasn't a convoluted, frustrating mess. I would think about it and kind of work on it but then I'd get distracted by other work. Then suddenly it's April 1st and I didn't have anything done. "So then I think, well next year! I'll have months to work on it for next year!" I never worked on it in that span of time. It never crossed my mind.

Who really thinks about setting up some April Fools thing any more than a week or two ahead of time? Probably some weirdos, that's who. Me? I have too much to do such as site work, trying to do regular streams, and trying to deal with my own life stuff. So, these things never happened.

Why don't I just try again for next year? Honestly, I'm kind of tired of thinking "next year" and then never doing it. So, I'm just spilling the beans now on what I was going to do.

Maybe I could just joke about how we're shutting down CS-Nation! Oh, wait.
