I just wanted to leave a quick note about some upcoming changes I've decided to test out with our review system here.

Typically, you've seen review scores at the end of our reviews presented as such:

Overall: 8.5/10

Gameplay: 9/10
Audio: 8.5/10
Visuals: 8.5/10
Value: 8/10

Going forward, I'm going to remove the section breakdowns. That means, no more individual scores for Gameplay, Audio, Visuals, or Value. There will just be one score, the "Overall" score presented.

In addition, there will no longer be any "half" scores given. That means no more 7.5 or anything of that nature. The scoring system will go from 0 to 10, effectively giving an 11 point scale. Though let's be honest here, no game will ever earn the score of "0", so it's in reality a scale from 1-10.

I was thinking of just leaving it as a text based score (as seen above) but also considering trying a graphical star icon showing the scores, or some form of a graphical representation of the score just to make it look interesting.

I was also considering a scale where 5 is the max score, but I have decided against that for now. I want to at least see how this new system pans out before adjusting it further.

You guys probably don't care too much, but just in case there happened to be any questions, you now know the reason for the upcoming changes. I expect to see this updated system put to use starting with the review for Destiny that I'll be working on this weekend.

Update: I have given it some thought and I will test out the five point scoring system in the upcoming reviews here. It again will feature only full numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) for the system. Depending on how it's received and depending on my personal opinions on the system, it may or may not become a permanent change.

Again, this new scoring system will begin with Destiny.
