Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition Out Now

Built specifically for the VR experience.

The Oculus Store got a little bit more spooky today. No, I'm not talking about how it's run by Facebook, that's certainly frightening in its own right. No, I am talking about how Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition was just released on the Oculus Store for $29.99 (USD).

Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition is a "story-driven, psychological VR horror game that immerses players in with the terror hidden in the Black Hills Forest."...

    Experience Blair Witch in VR

Everything is more frightening in VR.

Bloober Team and Lionsgate just announced a VR version of their recent-ish Blair Witch horror game. On October 29, you will be able to experience Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition, a VR offering of the team's latest horror title. It will be available for purchase for just $29.99 from the Oculus Store. I say the game is "recent-ish" because while it may be Bloober Team's latest release, it did still come out about a year ago in non-VR...

Oculus Quest 2 Announced - 90Hz Display, New Controllers, Starting at $300

    Pre-orders open today.

The biggest announcement out of today's Facebook Connect event was the official reveal of the Oculus Quest 2. It is the latest standalone headset from Oculus/Facebook that offers 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) without the need to be tethered to a PC.

Pre-orders begin today for a launch that won't take place until October 13th. Pre-orders begin at about the $300 (USD) mark for a 64GB model and $400 for a 256GB model.

    This was the only...

Facebook is Discontinuing the Rift Product Line in 2021

Company will no longer build PC-only VR headsets.

Facebook announced today that they will discontinue the manufacture and sale of the Rift product line in early 2021. Once this happens, the company will no longer have any PC-only VR headsets available for sale.

This reveal comes shortly after the company announced the Quest 2, a device that will still make use of the Oculus Link in order to connect to a PC if so desired.

    Sadly, it seems as though...

  • Official Half-Life: Alyx Release Date Announced

Official Half-Life: Alyx Release Date Announced

Valve has announced a solid release date.

Ever since Valve announced Half-Life: Alyx back in November 2019, they maintained that the game would be out at some point in March 2020. That fairly vague release window did not sway over the past four months now, which was either very reassuring that Valve Time wouldn't kick in, or anxiety inducing because you just wanted the delay announcement to come. OH GOD JUST GET IT OVER WITH ALREADY!

    Thankfully, that delay announcement...

  • Multiple VR Headsets are Delayed or Backordered Following Half-Life: Alyx Reveal

A new Half-Life game is pushing VR hardware sales in a big way.

According to a number of reports, VR headsets are sold out across multiple retailers. The big push for VR purchases came first with the reveal of Half-Life: Alyx. Another big push came when the Oculus Link cable officially went on sale.

As of right now, the Oculus Quest has been sold out across several online retailers since before Christmas. The Oculus website shows that new orders of both the $399 (USD)...

Espire 1: VR Operative Announced for PC VR Headsets and PlayStation VR

    It's virtually Metal Gear Solid.

Digital Lode and publisher Tripwire Interactive announced Espire 1: VR Operative this past week at E3 2019. The VR title utilizes new methods of moving in VR to nearly eliminate the feeling of motion sickness. Espire 1: VR Operative is a game that, at least on its surface, looks like a VR take on a certain tactical espionage action game. That is to say, it's a stealth action title.

The game is currently in development for VR devices on...

  • Superhot VR Released on Oculus Quest

Superhot VR Released on Oculus Quest

Oh yeah, the Oculus Quest and Rift-S are out today too.

The Superhot team have released an Oculus Quest version of Superhot VR today. This new release goes hand in hand with today's release of the Oculus Quest. The team is calling this release the "definitive Superhot VR experience." As an owner of the regular Rift and Superhot VR, that kind of stings a bit to hear.

However, there is the fact that the Quest doesn't have any wires hanging off of it, nor does it...

  • Oculus Announces 'Rift S' and 'Quest' VR Headsets Releasing May 21 at $400 Each

Oculus held their F8 event today during which they revealed two new and very different VR headsets. In comparison to the also just announced $1,000 Valve Index, these two Oculus headsets start at $400 (or $399 if you want to be specific), and that's the price for the full package on both of these.

A major advantage with these two headsets, when compared to the Index, is the fact that they utilize inside-out tracking. That means they make use of headset mounted cameras and sensors...

  • Oculus Announces Wireless Oculus Quest VR System for $399 Plus New Star Wars VR Game

During the Oculus Connect 5 keynote earlier today, Oculus VR announced the Oculus Quest. The Oculus Quest is an "all-in-one VR gaming system" that allows players to experience six degrees of freedom, Touch controllers, and a price tag of $399 (USD).

Unlike the Oculus Rift, the Oculus Quest does not need to connect to a PC to operate. There are no sensors to hang up either. Instead, the Quest utilizes a technology that they're calling Oculus Insight.
