• Music in Gaming - Bang Camaro Interview

As part of our "Music in Gaming" series here on Total Gaming Network, we're aiming to bring both the gamers and musicians featured in games closer together. This month's featured band has been the band Bang Camaro. Their music has been featured in such games as Rock Band and Titan Quest. Thanks to Artwerk, the dedicated music label for Electronic Arts, we were able to ask Bang Camaro member Alex some questions. Check it out:

How was Bang Camaro formed and how long have you been a band?

BANG CAMARO is a project I formed with Bryn Bennett in the summer of 2005. When we met we bonded over our shared love for hard rock and metal of the 70's and 80's. When other Boston hipsters were trading hair gel tips and cocaine war stories, Bryn and I were giggling about our favorite Randy Rhoads solos. Naturally, we started writing music together with the idea of recreating the pop-hooks and huge sounds of the 80's but without the pretense. In order to achieve that huge arena vocal sound we invited as many of our vocalist friends to the studio to sing along with our lyrics. When it came time to bring the project to the stage we asked many of the same guys who sang on our recordings to stand behind us and belt the songs out live. We had no idea what a spectacle it would create. Four years and two albums later we have lived our band way beyond our wildest dreams.

What has your experience been like working with Artwerk and Electronic Arts?

So far so good. Artwerk and EA have been big supporters of our unique brand of hard rock. Having had the good fortune of having our songs featured in Guitar Hero II and Rock Band I and II, our inclusion in additional video game titles has been a no-brainer and has helped spread the word about the band. We are truly grateful for the partnership.

Your music has been featured in a few different games now including Rock Band and Titan Quest. What was it like hearing your music in a game for the first time?

It's a thrill. Those songs that appeared in Titan Quest and Rock Band were mostly recorded in our bedrooms. To be able to write a song with your friends for fun and then see it included in games that are played by millions is amazing.

We'd like to thank Alex from Bang Camaro for taking the time out to answer our questions! If you'd like to learn more about the band, and to see previous coverage we've had on them, visit here.
