Classics in Gaming: Fallout
We're pleased to announced today a brand new series here on Total Gaming Network that is sure to bring back some memories for all of the gamers out there. This new series, which will be known as Classics in Gaming, will feature older games that have iconic and legendary places within the gaming industry. Each month we will highlight a new classic game and discuss what made the game so great and why you should consider playing the game again.
The very first game featured in our Classics in Gaming series is Interplay's Fallout. Released in 1997, Fallout would begin the success of a series that now, thanks to the greatness of Fallout 3, has a huge fan base and outstanding sales numbers. I remember spending countless hours of my childhood playing 90s RPG titles including Baldur’s Gate, the Ultima series and Fallout. Although all of these games hold a special place in my heart, the original Fallout was unique, breaking the traditional D&D setting of so many RPGs from that time by delivering a story set in a post-apocalyptical wasteland; think Mad Max and Road Warrior.
Developed by Interplay, Fallout made its debut in 1997 as the unofficial sequel to the 1987 game Wasteland. For many, this game was their first toe hold into the world of Fallout, one that seamlessly blended advanced technology and kitschy 1950s America.
