    Guitar Hero Smash Hits Review

Ready to continue rocking? Our latest review here on Total Gaming Network has staff writer ThQp playing the guitar and drums in the Nintendo Wii version of Activision's rhythm game Guitar Hero Smash Hits. Here's the intro to the article:
Over the past five years, the Guitar Hero franchise has played host to some of the hottest rock songs created. Many of these big hits were included before Guitar Hero: World Tour, which allowed players to sing, drum, and play bass on all the game's tracks. Red Octane has dug through their library to find the best songs possible and are now letting you play them any way you feel. Is this new game really worth the price tag or is it another way for Activision to make an easy sale? Read more...

The Guitar Hero franchise's best tracks have received an update.

meh. I wasn't that pleased with GH SH imo. Still buggy, and still seems like its just forced out to make money. Not like Rock Band.

This to me does come off as money grabbing.

GH should have done what Rock Band did and let users who own both games/however many there are to play tracks from RB1 on RB2 including DLC, which saves disc swapping. That's a genuine good feature for consumers instead of charging people again for tracks.

        Kinda pisses me off really,

I dont think that they are just releasing the old tracks again, They have to update them with support for the drums and microphone.
          And then there is this:
Master recordings. 'Nuff said. Every track that was originally missing the master recordings have been updated for new and improved audio quality
IMHO that adds a lot of value too

Having all of the master tracks instead of covers with lame vocals, and adding drum/mic support to all of them, makes it worth its own release in my opinion. Of course, I generally play Rock Band and Guitar Hero on my old PS2, so DLC isn't really an option for me. I guess for the PS3 and X360 crowd DLC would make just as much sense as a disc release, I don't know about the Wii's storage capabilities.
