Fallout 3’s original ending was a cop-out, plain and simple. Where Bethesda promised 200-plus endings, they delivered, but the “endings” were not in the form gamers had hoped for. Let down not only by the execution of the ending(s), but also by the content, outraged fans made Bethesda know well that their efforts were insufficient.
Bethesda’s announcement of the first three DLC expansions was both welcomed and reviled; Broken Steel promised to increase the level cap to 30 and extend the game past its original, impassable ending.
