  • Left 4 Dead 2 Delivers the Goods

    During last week's E3 show staff writer Bawdyjane got to check out Valve's upcoming shooter sequel Left 4 Dead 2. Read below for some game info and her impressions of the game:
    The Total Gaming Network headed up to Valve’s private room at E3 to get some hands-on time with their upcoming title Left 4 Dead 2. After hearing the announcement of the new title on Monday at the Microsoft Press Conference, we couldn’t wait to learn more about the game and play a level from one of the new campaigns.

    Left 4 Dead 2 takes place in the South about one week after the events of the original Left 4 Dead. My initial impression of the game after playing a level from “The Parish” is that the game feels like an expansion pack to the original. Returning players will instantly be able to dive into the game; however, developers at Valve seem to have a few tricks up their sleeve to keep the gameplay fresh and original in the sequel and plan to keep supporting new content for the original title. The characters in L4D2 are a bit plain and boring in my eyes.

          Rick - I liked the white guy in the white seersucker suit out of all the new characters, one of which looks like a total scout rip-off. Who knows maybe he says "bonk," in the campaigns.

          As to delivering the goods - based on what we saw at E3 although Valve could just have easily parted L4D2 out as an expansion I'm still excited for the latest iteration in the series; i'm hoping that new gameplay like the crescendo areas are just the start of new elements for the sequel

            It's an expansion.

            Weapons = Same.
            Characters Different But Don't Do anything different = Same
            Melee Weapons ? = Who cares, doesn't change the game enough.

            Essentially, they made they game much harder, and game you the same weapons and forced you to abandon the only strat that worked, which was defending a spot. Now you have to run around like an idiot, only further risking Tking which was already a huge problem in the original. Night or day ? Who cares. Doesnt change the gameplay.

            This is an expansion pack, and I wouldnt even pay expansion pack prices for it, let alone full game prices.
