Top Ten Announcements of E3 2009

With another successful E3 now history, the gaming community has a ton of new and exciting games and hardware to look forward to over the next year. Our very own staff writer ThQp sifted through the mass of news stories coming out of E3 2009 and created his list of the top ten biggest announcements. Here are the tenth and ninth biggest announcements from his list to get you started:
    10. Final Fantasy XIV

In a surprising move, Sony and Square Enix announced that they have been working on Final Fantasy XIV Online (which will launch sometime in 2010). This is surprising for two reasons. Last year, Microsoft continued stealing franchise after franchise from Sony by announcing that Final Fantasy XIII was coming to Xbox 360. On top of this, Final Fantasy XIII hasn't even been released yet. This would be in the same likeness as Treyarch announcing Call of Duty 7 this week, it just wouldn't seem right. At the same time, this is a Final Fantasy game so lets be happy. While the exact release date hasn't been set, we can tell you that it will be available to play on the PlayStation Network.

    9. PSP Go! OFFICIALLY Announced

It must have been very disheartening for Sony to try and make the announcement for the PSP Go! exciting after slipping up Saturday night. During their Press Conference, they referred to the leak multiple times as one of Sony’s worst kept secrets of E3. Everyone who paid attention to this year's event already knew this announcement was coming, hurting Sony's chances at hyping up the PSP library. Nevertheless, the idea of a new handheld is exciting and Sony deserves credit for coming up with new hardware, no matter how they intend to present it to us.

Curious to see what he put as the remaining top eight biggest announcements? Be sure to visit this page to find out. Don't agree with his ordering or feel that he left an announcement out? Let us know by posting in this thread.

For once thQp I agree with one of your posts, though I'd have bumped MGS rising above Mario and God of War.

Still, I'll call it an agreement :)

only thing from E3 that I was happy to hear was that LucasArts is remaking the 1st Monkeys Island and Telltale is making a 5th game.

On regard to the new Final Fantasy, Can you say "Milking the cash cow"? it just seems like theres no point. Just channel your creativity into another amazing product instead of some two-bit sequel. or sixteenuel? But what i like the most is the new Mario galaxy. I got hooked to the original one so the sequel seems promising.

I think PC gamers will get more good news from blizzcon than E3 personally....

Ehh, E3 this year was kind of meh. I only got excited about two or three games. Imo, everything else was either a standard sequel or some unnecessary, new technology.

I'm looking back on older games, those that I overlooked and didn't play/purchase, favorably in comparison to newer games.

Although, I'm sure that if a new Zelda on Wii had been announced, it would have taken the number 1 spot. :P
