  • Lord of the Rings: Conquest Review

Our latest review here on Total Gaming Network has staff writer Dairuka Sutain traveling to Middle-Earth to do battle in Pandemic Studios' Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Here's the intro to the article:
No ring jokes today. Instead, let us cue the New Line Cinema opening theme, as we have yet another Lord of the Rings game on our hands. Aptly titled, this game puts us in control of some of the most interesting, and vile creatures ever to come out of a Tolkien book. Never before have we been able to take up Sauron’s great mace, or Sarumon’s evil staff to lord over the very Tolkien world we fell in love with. Let’s just hope Tolkien isn’t rolling over in his grave when he sees what Pandemic has done to his story. Read more...

When this came out I was really tempted, the demo was so-so which would normally mean for me to avoid it. Still. Need to stop spending mah monies.

The 2nd game that TGN has been too kind to (first being burnout paradise) I would give it a 5, and thats only because im a LOTR fanatic.

Totally agree with the above. The attack combination are cool... after a while, it gets boring though.

I would love to know how the multiplayer section of this game got a 10 out of 10 when you literally said nothing good about it in the review. The mere fact that you have said that it is unbalanced means that it isn't perfection which means it cant possibly be a 'perfect' multiplayer.

I played this game and I would give it a 5.5/10. I really liked the films and I enjoyed the game. It filled my time but i doubt ill play it much more after the story and tasting multiplayer.

Sounds like I'll stick with my LOTR: Return of the King and LOTR: Two Towers videogames. Shame, I was looking forward to this.

Although this review came out only a couple days ago, it was quite literally the first one I ever did, dating all the way back in early February.

I actually made up an obscure scoring system that was meant to show people why I gave each game what score, but it was scraped. Before it was scraped I made the mistake of highlighting the bad parts, while only glossing over the good parts in this review. (Which is perfect for the parts of the game that scored poorly, but not so good for ones that scored well.) The unique experience of playing different classes, and different heroes should have definitely been highlighted instead of just glossed.

Anyhow, even now I still feel it's Multiplayer deserves a 10/10. It kept me entertained for a full week after the review was done. It was just as addicting as Battlefront was. Best of all, it was fully functional, even on the PS3. A 7.3 is definitely a fair score for an okay game.

RTS LoTR games are addicting, but the others aren't so good.
