  • The House of the Dead: Overkill Review

Our latest review here on Total Gaming Network has staff writer Dairuka Sutain blasting away baddies in Headstrong Games' arcade style shooter The House of the Dead Overkill. Here's the intro to the article:
These last few years have been particularly hard on arcade shooter fans. Everywhere you look, there’s another quarter-munching machine, designed specifically to give you absolutely no chance to beat the game without having to suffer through the unending barrage of impossible surprises caused by a poor camera angle, or poorly set up gun calibration. This may be considered the norm now, but it wasn't always the case back in the day. True, we went through an entire allowance worth of quarters in under a couple of hours, but I'm sure there are a few of us out there who remember actually beating the very first House of the Dead and Virtual Cop games. Ah, yes. Those were indeed the days. House Of The Dead in the arcade ate many, many of my quarters over the yrs. There was just something satisfying about actually holding the plastic gun in your hand, and being the gunfighter, blasting away at those ghouls. Much better than the mounted "machine guns" that other games used.
