  • TGN's Coverage of "THEY" - A New Mystery FPS

The Total Gaming Network was recently given access to all the latest information and screenshots for the upcoming mystery FPS THEY. The game has yet to be highly publicized but from what we've seen so far, it is definitely looking very good. In our section for the game, you'll find all the latest screenshots and videos, as well as information and interviews with the developers. You can navigate the section through the links below. Here is a brief description of the game and just a taste of what you'll find in our coverage of the game:

THEY is a Mystery-first-person-shooter, which means the storyline and the gameplay utilizes the fascination and fear every player get from unknown things he could not understand or imagine in the beginning. So THEY tries to get away from standard boring storylines of shooters, which normally could be rather more ignored, but will bring to the genre a storyline driven shooter!

The game is set in a near future scenario (2012), where the (yet not unveiled) main character is a soldier of an English army squadron, which was nearly wiped out. Our hero and one of his best friends from the squad – a pilot – are the only survivors from a devastating fight against some strange robots which are close to take over the whole country of England. These robots raised from nothing almost one day to another and a simultaneous attack on the key points and sources of the country proven, that the enemy is well organized and structured.

You unveiled an interesting new FPS feature, which is called "Pimp my weapon" or "Weapon tuning system", what does that mean in detail?

What's so cool about FPS games? Weapons! In the history of games the numbers of weapons have raised from a few smaller weapons in the beginning and more in the past, up to a minor opportunity to edit weapons with an alternative firemodes or so. Now we just put another step forward, as we give players the possibility to create their own unique weapons for example at the beginning of each level. First of all it's NOT just about one gun you have. You can save - based on your weapons memory and the central generator your weapon owns - different setups of a gun where you have access to at any time. Never change what the player is expecting! Each configuration has two different barrels, the already introduced generator and what we call a gadget slot (for scopes and stuff). One barrel can be used as an Ak47, MP5, shotgun etc. while the second barrel is a launcher, plasma beam and so on just to give an example. So players can customize different weapon setups based on their choice or skill, while they collect the upgrade items for their weapon as they progress into the game! Read more...

Reminds me of a mix between Doom and Half Life 2.

It sounds interesting and definately looks like a cross between Half Life and GoW/UT3 in the screenies.

A completely unrealistic sci-fi game with nice graphics is exactly what I need to escape this world for a few hours...
