Battleracer Mod Update

There is a new update today coming from the Battleracer mod. It is nearing a new release that includes a number of changes. Listen up:

Battleracer 1.2 is almost ready for release. This mod strives to turn the battlefields of BF2 into racetracks. You can jump into DPVs on various racetracks (some new, some actually based on BF2 maps) and race!

A big new feature in 1.2 is the stats system. On 'Battleracer Ranked' servers, the results of your races are uploaded to a website where you can keep track of your accomplishments and records. Soon we will also organize tournaments for racers, complete with fully automated scoring.

1.2 will also include the classic Race_map and BeachRace from Battleracer 1.1, with a new original circuit (Seaside Raceway 2006) in two configurations, as well as race setups in BF2 maps such as Strike at Karkand.

I didn't notice this post right away but I am greatly impressed with a lot of what I am seeing in this new game mode. You have done a really amazing job! We are always looking for coders especially ones with awesome game mod designers such as yourselfs.

sounds good, but how you would be able to time laps is beyond me. also, can DPVs shoot other DPVS?

This reminds me of the good old days of the BF1942 Racing mods. Exept with this one you can finally keep track of your wins and such PLUS LAP TIMES!! I will definetly be getting this mod.

Thanks for the positive response :)
We've also fixed the FFA bridge-destroying and stuff by removing all weapons but the Wrench :) And yes, the DPV/FAAV's CAN shoot on each other...
We're also working on a movie, called "Pimp my DPV", can you guess what it's about? :P

I played one of the alpha releases..by myself. I had a blast taking all the DPVs and planting C4 explosives in crucial spots and detonating everything! :)

I'm excited for a full release, as I can just see it now: Me and my friends taking care of sh!t on the racetrack as well as the battlefield! :)

Good stuff, can't wait! Let's just hope more servers than none decide to implement this mod.

Cheers for the comments guys. We're working really hard to get this thing released ASAP. It would be nice if anybody knows/is a server provider, it would be nice to have at least one or two dedicated servers when we release the mod. Any server hosters get all the betas, benefits, stuff like that as well. :)

And MarkHawk: I might take you up on that later.

Forgot to mention, the main race gamemode was actually coded by Mach10. He's the one with the true talent. I got permission from him to modify the BR1.1 code to add longer races, lap timing, stats, all this new stuff. :)
