i'm sure, as before, there will be some sort of peer review of the "facts," however in some cases this can be done without any justice ever prevailing. i just hope these admins that want their own sandbox to play in under superimposed rules get dealt with. of course, the only place you have that scenario is ranked servers since unranked can do as they please.

This is the lamest thread in history, bunch of lousy players whining cause they get beat on. YOu can see the noobs by the comments they make. Guess they couldnt noobify the weapons anymore for you so they have now created the e-police to come and watch over you like angels. People who complain about Statpadders are people who look at the stats and scores as their focus and complain when they "cant get those kinda scores". Its called skill in 90% of the cases and you would have those who are better than you punished so you dont look so bad. That simple.

I for one will not have any ROE or RS guys in my servers, we follow the rules of the EULA and thats it. I never signed anything for my servers to allow any "3RD PARTY" ego maniacs to come in and tell me how to run it or have some e-cop telling the pubbers in my server how to behave. We allow base camping as long as you can stay alive and camp. We allow Jihad Jeeps and everything else that the game allows minus exploits and glitches. Mods from 1942 had an auto kicker for uncap base rapers why not BF2? They allow you to attach C4 to jeeps so why not use it? Like many others have said, "FIX THE BUGS!!!!" If you shouldnt be able to do something, then why the F*** did you include it in the game????

Get rid of the punish system and let the losers who run into nades die with out fear that your stats are gonna get reset because some guy on the other side of the map with an ROE prefix see a TK and punish and decides he dont like that guy. What if you argue with an ROE guy on YOUR server, he can pretty much say what he wants to get you screwed. So how are ya gonna make sure that egos dont get in the way. Sounds like the whole program will be run by ego's to me, your rules are at the least un-thought out. You contradict your rules with other rules all over the place. Its all macho look at me Im an e-cop crap. I dare you to come to my servers and tell me how to run them. Ill ban you for being a jerk thinking you have the right to tell us honest hardworking big money paying for ranked server people.

Until I recieve a new EULA from EA to agree to I will ignore your lame e-police crap and if you unrank my servers or reset my stats I will seek legal council for breach of contract, becuase I dont know about anyone else but I never signed anything at any time that says "You are under the guidlines and policy's of any 3rd party that we say you are" and with monthly server fees nearing 500$ a month in my case, it will take more than some noob wanna be special admins telling me how to do bussiness.

Edit: I do not approve of stat padders or cheaters and on my servers they are dealt with promptly and justly. When a player or players exploit or pad they get booted. I have no language filters running because if you can kill a person in a game then you should be able to see a bad word. I dont run NAZI servers. If its in the game and its not a cheat or exploit then you can do it, if EA Wants to change something maybe they should start changing the game.

Re: BF Rules of Engagement soon to engage!

        Sup mad...

Well, in agreement with your outlook on the rules, I want to point out soemthing: If you read the EULA/ROE that are being offered, indianscout's "revisal" of these rules is practically the same thing.

When I noticed the "example" use of the word "whoring", it led me to believe that the person creating this set of rules is of a bias nature, and should not be working alongside others to properly write out a formal set of rules.

There are no clauses or valid examples, they give no numbers nor do they give credibility on the behalf the supposed "admins" that would jump on any given ranked server to fulfill their "punishement".

Personally, as I've mentioned, I could care less for the rules. As you've mentioned, they should never have added gameplay tactics to the game if they are to prevent someone from playing "legally" using this tactic..

I don't, however, agree with your rant about posing legal threats against those that would try and justify their statements against your server. I understand that you pay 500$/month for a server, and that for someone to come and impose their bias rules/regulations against you and your server is wrong, but if it becomes too big of a deal, why not save yourself a ton of cash and just rent/buy a server and run an unranked version of the game on it?

Personally, I find the unranked server more appealing than the ranked, if only because the players care more-so for the win rather than the points. I tend to see more teamwork, and I tend to see less idiots on them as well.

Again, I agree with how you feel about some rules being implemented without your agreement or knowledge, but I don't think you should resort, nor do I think you'd win, to a legal battle. The contract you abide to when renting a ranked server is very open, therefore can be and will be breached within its original intention. EA/DICE reserve the rights to change any policy they wish to, and I think that legally all that you will be able to accomplish is to either accept or deny the new rules and/or regulations.

I never liked the idea of seperating unranked from ranked servers, as I feel I should have been able to play with any weapon selection offered since the game's inception. I understand why some people would be inclined to like these rules, as they can watch themselves "progress" or "evolve" within the game's ranking system, but as time has proved, the system is completely flawed and doesn't justify a set of rules without clauses, multiple sub-sections and directed examples.

I don't like reading words like "prolonged" and others like it, because they are a bias statement that can, has and will be taken into the admin's consideration of what he/she believes relates to this statement.

All in all though, it comes down to the basic concept of, if you don't like don't buy it. If you don't like EA's rules, then begin an unranked server instead and never worry about anything like that again.

Again, I'm with you and your frustrations on how idiotic these rules can be, and how they contradict each other. You can tell the policies were made by gamers with a bias against anyone that understands how to exploit a system. Instead, I feel the rules should have been produced, maintained and updated by EA staff with some policy making knowledge, not some random "gamer" that feels he or she is justifying what the community wants.

        PEACE

Re: BF Rules of Engagement soon to engage!

To help explain what I mean by the policies being open to interpretation, here is a small example in regards to the "spawn whoring":

In the clause, there should be a number with how many kills within a timeframe one must accomplish before it is considered a "base rape".

i.e. if player-A is within the uncappable zone for more than 240seconds, then he is considered as a base raper.

i.e. if player-B has killed x amount of people within the uncappable zone 5 times within 1 minute, then he is considered a base raper.

This will diminish what anyone can interpret the rules as. It defines a factual scenario with a clause that cannot be disputed.

I understand that those "rules" aren't part of the overall EULA that the servers must abide to, but to include something like "an admin cannot tell the players not to drive in a vehicle" but in turn can tell them which "zone" they cannot trespass or attack is completely contradicting.

The rules need to be defined very specific if you're going to implement any rule that the ranked server must follow. To allow the admins to justify the rules you tell them they CAN implement gives them the unjust advantage to interpret the rules to his or her liking...which in my opinion, is against the EULA.

            PEACE

tell me - do you own a server-hosting company? or do you rent your server from someone?

Re: BF Rules of Engagement soon to engage!

OK, then - on the issue of "spawn whoring" / "base raping" - what about the scenario when a team has been pushed back and lost all their flags except the uncap one ??? (BF2:SF map Ghost Town is a good one for this...). Does the dominating team need to say "well, ok guys...here - you come cap THIS flag so you can get some teamwork points to cap it, and then we'll obliterate you again and we'll just keep doing that over and over again" ?? Or when all that is left is an uncap flag and the leading team's Commander keeps dropping Arty strikes on it (I've been on the receiving end before as I'm sure many of us have...) - does that mean the Commander will get punted for attacking a base ??? That rule is a bit of a joke...the way I figure it, if your team has been pummelled so badly that all you have left is your spawn/base/uncap and you can't co-ordinate well enough to get out to cap another flag, then tough s### - put it down to experience, build a bridge and get over it - co-ordinate a bit better next time...
And also, most of the opposing forces UAV and strategic objects are in their uncap zone, so if you want to get in there and blow it up and just happen to nail X number of enemies, then big deal - if they can't defend their base, then they deserve to get decimated from within their own base...
Gotta remember - WAR IS WAR !!! :salute:

unless that person happened to get there cuz he had a faster system, and was ingame a minute before everyone else. a good pilot w/ a topnotch system can rule in this game. take oman, an f35 in first, and bombing you as you spawn or worse steals your jet.

kudos to those who have these highend systems. its the way the ball bounces, and i guess war is war. its never fair.

this thread is a great example in showing what one of functions is, to help the comunity understand the ROE, and to act as a mediator between the comunity and EA. That way when you as a comunity has something constructive to say, then we can take it to EA for you. And I would like to thank crazy and the rest of the MYIS staff for their suport, and of course this large comunity for their interest.

Yeah but who asked you?? Noobs who got killed one to many times and needed to run off and whine about it?? I mean really who do you think you are?? I run 3 servers and am the lead admin of a US ladder site. I wrote the rules for the ladders and cups, so why should I feel the need to listen to you crybabys who cant handle gettin beat in a video game. Im no great player and I dont have alot points for the hours Ive played and ya know Ive never once complained. The game is bugged to hell and back and yet I still play, EF was released and due to name bug I couldnt play it and EA wont fix it, I still play. I don't need some wanna be cop who is just as bad as the other crybabys tellin me how to run my server or tellin the people playin on it how to act.

As I stated "I never signed anything giving you guys any dominion over me". Im no lawyer and your right I wouldnt win a lawsuit. For that reason alone if you come on my server and try to tell me how to play my game, you will be booted. If you unrank me, it will prove that your just a bunch of ego trippen noobs who cant play the game so you try to control how its played. You have no defense for your action, you say you'll listen to constructive critisism but you wont hear any negative feedback. Again proving your just an ego trippen bunch of noobs who cant play the game so you try to control how its played.

Tell ya what take over and youll bring down the game for the people who actually play it like its meant to be played. YOu just want everyone to play it the way you think we should. When the Mods start flowing and they run right and the missles actually hit what they are locked onto and the guns are evenly balanced and the maps are more varied and ya dont have to pay for "expansions" that arent worth the price of a disc so the company only allows downloading them, the my power hungry little piggy wanna be's, then you can have your crappy assed ranked servers to play on with all the other losers who play this game for a facade of glory, while all the real "gamers" move on to better games.

                          GG.

Re: BF Rules of Engagement soon to engage!

                            The ROE are good.

But there are 2 that just doesn't seem right:
§"Using the Transport Helicopters to take flags"
I don't even know why a admin could use this rule.

And it sounds against your own rule: §1.5 "Kicking Players who use vehicles or aircraft" because why else would you use the Transport Helicopter except for taking your team from flag to flag (troop transport).
Or do we have to take our team to the other side of the map to take a flag,, because they won't get out of the helicopter if you will try. Or they will shoot you....

So when a admin kicks you because you use a Transport Helicopter to take flags, he kicks you because you are using a vehicle to take flags.
So he is right and wrong at the same time?

                            And the second rule is
§"Using C4 on jeeps, or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles."
I never used it myself but I don't care if anyone else uses it.
It's a tactic to destroy the enemy tank, and if the enemy is good enough (skilled) he can shoot him down before it comes close.

It even gives the game more action because it feels good when I take out that jeep before it hits me.

And thats how I think about it, the rest of the rules seems alright for me.

Lets see. The thought, violation of consumer rights comes to mind. EA has no legal right to tell you how to play a game you own. They have no legal right to tell you how to run a server you are renting from another company. The only way they can tell you how to run there servers is if it is written in the terms and conditions part of there server which you would have agreed to. Otherwise this is simply to appease the whinny little 12 year olds who can't stand the fact that some one else may have more skill than them. EA could get themselves in a lot of trouble for this. Can anyone say gaming dictatorship. lol. The fact is if EA wants to help the players, then they should learn how to make patches that actually fix something. Ya know maybe add a option to change your ingame name after logging in. Heck do something that actually works. The only thing I have seen that they did with these patches is change weaponry. The actual bugs that were supposed to be addressed were never fixed. Ea can't tell anyone how to use there own property. Thats the bottom line. I will play my game how I want to play it and if whinny kids don't like it. They should learn how to play. If they want to monitor play to remove hackers, I have no problem with this. Though I have seen people have there stats reset just simply because they were to good at the game and were not hacking. it was a determination of EA that they must have been hacking to do what they did. No proof was obtained for this action either. If your gonna reset someones stats you need real proof. And i for one believe that proof should be made known to the one who is having his/her stats reset. I think this is only fair. And thats what this is all about right, Fairness to all. Personally I look at it this way. If EA don't want people to use exploits, FIX THE EXPLOITS. If EA don't want people to use bugs, FIX THE BUGS. If EA don't want peeps to use hax. SEnd this EA team that is gonna monitor servers out to find the hacks and UPDATE PUNKBUSTER. I am 32 years old and I don't think I need a big brother looking over my shoulder while I'm playing to make sure I am playing the way he wants me to. THIS IS ABSOLUTE CRAP

So are the players who don't meet EA rules gonna be strung up and hanged in this crappy player noob witchhunt.

Next thing to happen they will emplement a rule stating that ya have to let the skilless players kill ya at least 3 times so they don't look bad and feel better about themselves.

Or is all this just simply because some of the whinny skilless players are employees of EA who can't kill anything in the game they created. lol

                              NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBB BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

My suggestion, stop whinning and learn to play, get a better comp, or play singleplayer and leave the rest of us alone.

EA has All Rights Reserved weather or not you like it. Read the fine print onf the back of the case.

They arn't telling you guys what to do in unranked servers so if you don't agree with them then play unranked servers.

Just wait till the rest of the details come. You guys think its going to be a system thats full of hardasses and rules. Also things have to go though more then one person.
