      Re: Desert Conflict Mod Update

I have not seen it around. We have quite a few models on the ftp andthey often fall to the bottom of the pile until someone digs em up.. lol

As far as using BF2 objects, we have gone both ways. We built a better Humvee for instance (2 actually) along with most of the weapon system variants, but when it came time to decide what would get attention first, we opted to use the vanilla objects with weapons tweaks, and additions.

I am sure some folks will see this as a bad thing, but for the most part the response has been "Can't Wait!"

      Cya guys soon!

Thanks for the comments and constructive criticism. It is cool that our teams can communicate like adults. Things have really been much better these days, and I appreciate the maturity accross the board.

Amen to that. Since certain people left each team, the tension in the air has reduced to literally nothing.

            left "each" team

yes it is pretty senseless to think how there was ever a drama in the first place. MOD teams shouldnt have to squabble amongst themselves. I am so glad it is all over and we can all move onto what we do best :)

Wow, Those pictures Truly look down-right amazing! The texturing, detailing, and weathering looks so realistic, it really does the model itself justice! I love it!

One question; Who operates the Hellfires and Miniguns? I'm guessing the pilot will operate both, a right click and left click thing. The hellfires, can they be guided in any way, or are they dumb-rockets?

Alright on the Expansion wings your texture doesn’t match up with the rest of the vehicle. It isn't bad but it looks blurry. I would suggest using the clone stamp tool on Photoshop to match them up with the base Hull texture on lets say the roof of the UH-60.

The next thing is your TAN blackhawk is suffering from the same texture problem. But my beef is with all the Logo, symbols, and fonts not being Copied and pasted in another layer or clone stamping the base texture over them and recreating them later. That way later you can change the color to black or add contrast.

Also if in game your logo looks odd from far away but good up close (or vise versa) try creating a vector image in Illustrator of your logo (pretty simple if you know basics of illustrator) and import it into your .psd file of this file and when you make it a .dds file it goes away. It's odd but it worked for me.
I wont be qucik to throw fire, no matter what team your from. A little advice can be a good thing. Only problem here is that I disagree. The chopper looks great, it flys like a bad ass, sounds mean, and of course will look a little different when in motion and viewed in game, as we all here already know.

I think well be updating more often I guess. If the fans and the curious want to see work before the release, im cool with that.

Of course if it just produces Photoshop tutorials and such, well were all too busy for that, arent we?

hehe dont worry sysex :) the "tutorial" is of limited use anyway...

the technique above is good if you want a "stuck on" feel but if you want realistic markings it may be just a few steps short of the preffered final result.

importing a vector smart shape into a psd will leave it as vector until u save as a DDS (or any other file type for tht matter)... It then becomes rasterized. so, in essence, there is really nothing new or exciting happening when you use this technique - in fact you are limiting yourself greatly as to the amount of weathering and blending you can do with your decals...

this model was done by one of our older skinners using a different technique to the one i normally promote - a method which is far superior in its realistic qualities. I do all my decals in illustrator... but i certainly rasterize them before i start blending and chipping them

as for clonestamp... pffff i would never use tht tool very bad for doing consistent varying surface textures! there are other, more simple and less fidgety ways to achieve a solution to the problem you mentioned.

this is just my opinion - please dont take it the wrong way markhawk your suggestions have definitely been noted :)

I've got plenty of time. I like doing things in lots of cummunitys. Like HBO ... I submit tutorials to www.pixels2life.com sometimes.

                        Don't under estimate any tool.

Yes I know the logo/vector image sounds odd, but when I made my JayHawk last summer I had a problem with the logo. Image wasn't that hard to make a vector so I did (so I could resize it and throw it on anything I wanted in the Future without loosing quailty. I hate that) anyways it did solve my problem.

I never said a negitive word or flame word. I don't know why your asking me not to take offense, as hard as it is to seem I like learning this stuff not only for my mods sake. I am at www.pixel2life at least 2 hours of my day trying new things. So IDK, I didn't know what else to say. I didn't want to say "Oh sexy!" thats lame. I wanted to say "Sweet, try this It worked for me". =DNC=SySeX73 that's why I asked you about audio, I suck at audio. I was able to get a bunch of sounds from a few movies and brought some into Sonic Sound Forge and now I got some nice sounds for videos. TY

anyways I am leaving school now. Im tierd. Later.

no no no please i never said you did its just as we have left the storm behind i just wanted to make it very clear tht whilst i was parting some knowledge i wasnt trying to belittle your comment, be an a$$ etc etc etc (where's my lawyer when i need to write this stuff lol)

that is all - so please dont take offense to me saying dont take offense rofl  i dont mean anything bad by it... hehe actually i think i said dont take this the wrong way hahaha didnt tht backflip on me!!!

as for the vector part - tht is how those decals on the BH were done AFAIK so never fear :)

best bet IMO is to save all your .ai decal files and when you drop them into your PSD size them to the right amount then rasterize layer - it will be exactly the same end result as what you have described but it then gives u a chance to chip/stain/wear/ etc etc (but thts all another story ) thus giving u a far better end result with your markings than dropping it in straight from AI then saving... but seriously, at the end of the day, to each their own.

best of luck to all modders throughout the universe!!! :)

these guys didn't make D Combat.

There are a few that I recognize that were part of the DC team at some point, but most had nothing to do with DC, other than playing it of course.
