wow you have been truley brainwashed by EA.. Judging by ITS THE SAME ENGINE, we know what to expect.. even though I was never a huge fan of the original Enemy Territory, I always heard nothing but positive remarks.. so basing off those two comments, I'd say we can make a really good estimate on the quality of the two. So dont tell call us "QW fanboys" call us "wanting quality games, fanboys"

Quake 4 just got a new patch. This one fixed major problems in MP gameplay. People were not happy at all.

I think the BF2 is not better neither worst than the majority of game engines out there. I have personnaly no problem to buy another game that uses the BF2 engine. However I will buy only if the game is very good (like BF2). But it is impossible right now to judge a game I have never played. I don't know how you can do that, it almost magic.

Please, oh please, tell me what these "bugs" and "problems" are that can be considered such a nuisance?

As for betting, I will only bet on one thing: EA/DICe will release BF 2142, people will buy and some won't. How well it will work, how many people play it will all depend on marketing strategy, community involvement, demographic dependencies (can be considered marketing strategy) and overall, who they think/hope will buy the game.

I don't think any of us are in any position os saying how well this game will do, but I can compare it to one game and this in turn tells me that it WILL be a good game: Battlefield 2.

Whether you agree with me or not, there is no denying how well BF2 has done and EA/DICE also realize this and will exploit it to their advantage as much as they can.

Nobody here has magical powers. We do, however, possess an uncanny ability to look at the past and present decisions made by EA, and thus formulate our views based on those.

When the past repeats itself so many times, you begin to notice that it's not a streak of bad luck, but an intentionall modus operandi.

Sure, EA's games aren't really that bad. Hell, the only issues I've encountered with BF2 have been the exploitation of the grenade launcher's design and the ability to bunny hop. I read people's posts about BF2 and have trouble comprehending how they come up with all of these discrepancies.

After you game, mod, get invited out by developers, test, game, mod, and everything all over again, you develop a keen sense of which games are going to be good and which are going to come in second or third.

BF2142 will be second to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, in all aspects aside from personal preferences of the player. You can't force a WW2 buff to like a semi-futuristic game, but they can admit when a game is made well.

I gurantee it.

Enemy Territory isn't as open as BF games are when it comes to gameplay, it's more like UT's gametype Assault, which is fun for awhile but once you've done the same objective it gets a little old, with BF2 at least your not boxed in to having to complete objective A before going on to objective B, some people would welcome the structure of being told what to do more or less I suppose.

With these screenshots of BF2142 what-you-see-is-what-you'll-get, ET:QW hasn't been hit with the ugly stick yet, as almost all games do right before they're released, let's go back and compaire ET:QW screenshots before and after it's released (you've got to love marketing and their over use of photoshop).

Its not a mod. Think of it as Battlefield 3. Totally new game, same engine. So it will cost as much as BF2 did.

I just dont understand how half of you people can be soooo brainwashed.

For one thing most of us are complaining not because EA is making a new game but because said new game is essentially an old game. Now I understand your argument that this game is infact running on a new engine... guess what it's the same engine with MAYBE some changes and minor improvements, uses your eyes look at the pictures does that look like a new engine, of course EA is going to say it's a new engine they want you to buy the game. The vehicles are for the most part the same vehicles of bf2 the black hawk is our fancy hovering watcha mathinger, the cobra is the other fancy flier. APC bla bla bla all fairly standard even the beloved mecs have a very common counterpoint in BF2 INFANTRY. Lets look at the new features ohhhh 64 player maps thats so vastly superior to uhhh 64 players, stat tracking unlockable weapons awards what an idea atleast EA is filled with original thinkers.

Heres what makes me mad a game that I enjoy is about to get smacked in the face because its maker is about to deystroy the community and undoubtedly game support. I know I know the part of Dice that is working on 2142 and BF2 material is different. Total bull**** you think that EA the remarkably unhelpful doesnt care about the customer EA is going to keep spending money on BF2 when people have stoped paying for it. No their focus will rapidly shift from BF2 to their new MOD because people are still buying into it.

Now for the argument between ET and 2142 people are biased twards ET because the game isnt being rushed out of the gate. It provides a number of hugely interesting and revolutionary features that have never or rarely been seen before. Locational dammage on vehicles, Terrain with varying qualities that actually effect the battle, A beautiful graphics engines, combat between two completely different races with hugely different qualities, and games that have no limmit on size. It is true that we can judge neither of the games before their release but we can take the evidence we have and make a logical conclusion.

Remember the BF2 "engine" is a modified Battlefield:vietnam engine, which was a modified bf1942 engine...

Im gonna stick with Quake wars:)

Another small difference between the 2 sets of Devs and the 2 differening viewpoints:

EA are moving away from looking after us, the community, and toward Charging for everything.

This update also includes 4 new professionally made multiplayer maps - free for your fragging pleasure.

WHy a brand new game? Bf2 only been out 1 year If i rember correctly it was couple eyars from 1942 til veitnam came out?
