Looks pretty manic! I wonder if there will be plaster rifles etc.. futuristic nutty weapons? Also i wonder if you can flatten people with that large robot, now that would be kill assist!

FYI.
Doesn't QW have MECHs and futuristic vehicles and armies? Aside from being pitted against an imaginery Alien race?

At least BF is on track to pit a real case battle against other regions of the world and on a very realistic premise of a global IceAge. Damn the DICE/EA team for using their imaginations and trying to move on with the franchise, DAMN THEM TO HELL! (*Very sarcastic tone of voice)

Man everyones made their decision about this game already it's quite funny and it's 8 months away :laugh: .

Its the same engine. . . . like QW:ET is same engine as Quake . . . .
Fair enough QW:ET brings a differernt gameplay expereince, but its the same principle. . . .

Fair point, but thats not syaing it could be more fun than QWET . . . . you or anyone else simply can't say . . . . One looks better yes, but we all know not to get fooled by visuals. . . .especially since at this stage all screenshots r pretty much scripted and/or doctored in Photoshop.

Yeah, and you will need one hell of a system to run Crysis like they are in the trailer. They must be running more than 1 vid card. I mean, cmon lol.

That would be called test items. Just because it is in a screenshot of the game does not mean it will be with the game. Do not assume it will, or you are the one who is a fool. I have learned from experience.

I mean even the box that is sold with BF2, has pictures of items that are.......on the box, and not in the game.
I dont know........show me a box that has a screenshot of a mustang GT on it.....and guess what. It had better damn well have a mustang gt in it.

I so want to play this game, I think it's the Mechs that are drawing me. I just hope this don't turn into another Blackhawk saga! Start off really good and are hacked to death until they're practically useless.

The blackhawk...... is one of the most useful things in the game. Its a support chopper, and plays NO MAIN role in attacking a flag, or should i say, LAMEING A FLAG. A BH can effectively carry folks to and fro, making the commanders day, a living hell, by eliminating the commanders assests.
Its also great to get to the far away places quick. And cary lots of guys to boot.
You only liked the blackhawk before, back when you didnt have to aim to kill someone, and when 1 tank shot, 1 rpg shot, 2 AA shots, and 3 pkm'r were shooting at it all at the same time........it didnt even smoke.

I think it looks great so far. They are only screenshots, and I too would like to see some features within the game, help intice me to get excited.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, but so far it looks good.

This game is running on the same engine used in BF2. They are also sticking with the Stats System. Of course it is going to seem like a simple expansion pack to the naked eye. It has all of the key elements that made BF2 a winner. Things like that won't change, hence, it will appear like nothing special. I personally love the new route they are taking and cannot wait for more news and a possible demo in the future.

You sir, have finally posted one of the truthful comments, and I commend you for it.

This game is not released, neither is QW: ET. For all people know, QW will run as crappy as Q4 does on high end systems, and will need to drop their settings for a good online experience.

BF2142 is looking promising simply because it's a new take on the genre, and they've been working on it since BF2 was released. Anything you see in screenshots is only speculative as to what will actually be included. As you mentioned, just because it's in a screenshot, does not mean it will make it pre-alpha.

If someone feels the game will bomb, then validate your statement. If anything, you're only proving that it WILL be a hit, because as much as many of you think BF2 is riddled with problems, I have yet to see anyone validate this statement with fact. Which problems are we talking about that prevent you from playing? Had you ever thought it might just be your machine and not the game?

Countless folks have no problems with the game, the patches helped most...as they did with my game.

I don't see why people should get this game. All it is is bf2 set in the future with same engine.. its probably has nothink new besides weapons,models,maps and lemmie guess.. same ea rank server? aka ****ed.

Ghost Recon is OK and all, but Battlefield kicks it's arse all over the place. Yes, I have GRAW and yes I play it but it's a totally different type of game. It is vastly limited compared to the BF environment. So, they are not competing directly, but, if they were, BF would win in my book every time...

So apparently global warming which is melting the polar regions, will according to dice - melt - into - ice and you somehow say this is realistic? you should be slapped with reality if you call a future global ice age a very realistic premise.:laugh:

now you could say you like their idea for a game's story line , but as it stands it is very unrealistic in its entirety.


dice knows games , not science. If you put ice in a room that is continuously warming it will melt .... not produce more ice i dont care how far in the future you go.

This drop in temperature causes the vast currents that carry warm water from equatorial regians northward to cease. If not for these currents, areas like the UK would be 10 to 15 degrees colder than they are today. So, global warming actually creates a cooling effect moving south from the north pole. This cooling would eventually kick us into another ice age. It's happened before and will eventually happen again....So, if anyone should be slapped in the face, it's you for talking smack about a subject that completely eludes your comprehension.

Well, you don't seem to be very scientific either my friend. The storyline is extremely feasible and is really not far off. The ice will melt, but that does not mean winters will cease. What will most likely happen is a great flood, and then a great freeze over the flooded areas. It's inevitable that this will happen, but when it does happen is all speculation.

To quote someone by saying he's scientifically wrong without being a climate and environmental scientist yourself, is redundant and hipocratic.

As for the whole "room" analogy: I do think, and I'm no scientist, that a single room with forced air is a little different than an ecosystem and how it works. You have oceans, seas, lakebeds, tropical and non-tropical forests/jungles, volcanoes, etc etc. Oh, and the polar caps being melted are still extremely cold when liquified, so explain to me what happens when you put ice in a glass of water. Because it melts, does the water get warmer or colder? ...that is, if you want to use analogies.

Our solar system is not breaking down. I think you meant to say that our atmosphere is breaking down but that's not correct either. Greenhouse gases do cause our planet to warm just as they have in the past (pre human). Carbon Monoxide is a greenhouse gas. It works to trap some of the sun's energy that the Earth reflects thereby warming the planet. However, that warming leads to the cooling effect that I talked about from the melting of the polar caps. That causes the areas outside of the tropics to cool dramatically. Cooling causes ice and snow to cover much of the land. Ice and snow reflect more and more solar energy away from the planet causing the global temperature to drop further....voila! ice age... That lasts until something catastrophic happens like a meteor or maybe a huge volcanic eruption sends dirt and debris up into the atmosphere where the darker material is exposed to more sunlight causing it to heat up...That warms the atmosphere and slowly the world crawls out from beneath a blanket of ice...No, I'm not giving you the fine detailed description but you should be aware that an ice age is entirely possible...

Looks good to me, I personally am HAPPY it is using the same engine.

New engine =

a) More time to develop
b) Requires uber-new graphics cards.

Personally, I love BF2 gameplay, and if they take that idea, and skin it in futuristic combat with new maps, weapons and vehicles AND I can still run it on my rig just like BF2 I am happy.

Sometimes something can be said for "freshness" rather then ground-up redesign. this game looks basically like BF2 with new content.....fine by me.
