    Re: Community Update - 2/22/06

:) Hello. One thing I have noticed from playing online games for 3 years is. Everytime a development team adds a new patch. The code in that patch could cause problems with code that the game runs on at the time of the patch (creating what is called a bug). You could test the patch on the beta server, but alot of times all the bugs will not reveal themselves on the beta server for a few reasons. Some of the bugs only happen with certain situations and sometimes these situations don't happen on a beta server. Once a patch goes live thats when you notice that the development teams watch's very closely to both the forums and the game to see what problems the players are having. There is also a dev team that is there to just play the game all day. They'r job is to look for bugs and to watch for players that are cheating in the game. So if you a person that likes to cheat (which if I am not mistaking is a bannable offense). Just think that player you are cheating against could be a dev. In light. I am very pleased to see that Dice is working hard to make BF2 and expasions a better game to play. Also remember the devs only know about the bugs they can find and the ones that players report. So if you feel you have found a bug report it and let the devs know no matter how sinceless it may seem.

support do much more than supressive fire...they are the new assault class. yup i play support now and kill everything with my new overpowered PKM and unlimited nades...thx DICE
      Hey.

I don't really know about these numbers, I'm not the one that is so into the guns that I search up the devation and things. (Yeye, I know the numbers exists on most BF2 sites).

What I mean is that you guys complain way too much.
The PKM is NOT overpowered, just face it.

What about snipers then? Just camp somewhere good and you'll be on top of the server list with most points. I'm not a elite sniper, but it's pretty fast scores, you just have to know a good position.

The assaults got granade launchers, and I'm not an assault player either, even though I play it from time to time when I don't feel like playing any other kit. And I get alot of kills with assault too.

Special forces got some kick ass guns.
I really like the Scar-L, because I can handle that gun well.

Support, I've always loved these big guns. I love it in war movies when they lay down and give suppressive fire. And in reallife, a support gun is accurate, atleast when a soldier mount it at something. And in BF2, when you lay down, you have 'mounted' the gun. You know what I mean.

What I'm saying is that you just need to know how to handle the weapons, then you will be the king of the battlefield.

I don't got kick ass stats, just look at my deaths and kills.
I play this game for fun! And I think it's very fun now when Dice made the game more balanced and each kits are more worth playing now!

Here's what they had to say this time around:<blockquote>Good day soldiers, We want to let you know that we have been making great progress on patch 1.21 and are happy to share with you some of the issues that are being addressed. The patch will be tested in a limited beta starting the end of this week. We're working around the clock to minimize your wait on the release of 1.21 but at the same time want to make sure that the patch is thoroughly tested before it goes out officially.

Below is a list of the current confirmed fixes
        • Crash bug when using Hummer with TOW in the Special Forces expansion pack has been fixed
        • Screen capture is now working
        • Performance issues with certain ATI cards has been addressed
        • Server browser can now filter by map name
        • Claymores - the number that can be dropped at any one time has been reduced to 2

Once again thank you for your patience and see you all on the Battlefield!

The team at DICE and EA</blockquote>Glad to hear about the progress already being made on this hotfix. Stay tuned for more updates to come.
Great progress? How can that be when they have only 5 down, and 52 more bugs to go. Here's proof, or check my sig.

All I care about is one fix:

SILENT F*CKING GUNFIRE. I hate standing there like a lemon cos I can't hear gunfire only to notice my health is suddenly down at 3 bars before I die.

And really I think the patch reduced the red/blue bug as I have not seen it again. Not trying to deny it's there, I just think too many people have become used to blaming their TK's on it.

Secondly, I hope that the problems with the AT class you have undoubtedly heard of are related to the ATI fix since the problems manifest like severe lag issues. Any thoughts on this?
look buddy i dont doubt that there are bugs with other fps's. however, if you are happy to receive dud patch after dud patch, thats fine. but i dont believe the majority of bf2 players would agree. when u oay good money for something u expect it to work properly. we shouldnt succumb to the all to common "all games have bugs, get used to it" etc. if it was any other item that we bought (of that price) that didnt work, we would be furious. and also the red/blue team bug is definately there. if you are insinuating that every person on totalbf2 who complains of the red/blue team bug is a teamkiller, then you are a fool.

The red/blue tag bug is far worse than ever, I saw it maybe once pre-patch in maybe 6 months of playing, ive seen it at least 5 times since the patch. Still, while it's annoying you jus don't shoot the guy if he has the same uniform on, not always possible, granted, but still.... I dont see any mention on their list of fixes about the damn silent gunfire, thats far more irritating and happens to me practically every round!!

The M1A2 120mm cannon inflicts more damage than an APC's weapon because it is a tank, and tanks inflict more damage in real life. The F-35B uses VTOL because thats what it does in real life. Do you see a theme here? Finally, the grenade launchers (M203, GP-30, et al) use impact grenades because that is what is used in real life. Everything has a direct correlation with real life.

Granted, some aspects, such as the C4 chunking, are altered to "create balance" but in the end, this game uses real life aspects to make the game fun. To believe otherwise, is just retarded. Even though they go for "balance" and "playability" first (I doubt DICE/EA said that in honesty) the grenade launcher does what it does for a reason. If it just bounced, there would be no point to having a launcher. It would just be an ordinary grenade. This defeats the purpose of an assault kit. Like the EA website says, the assault kit is the charge and attack kit. Taking away the impact grenade laucher pretty much makes the assault kit a medic without shock paddles and heal kits.

By the way, I am already in special school. I graduate in one semester.

Then they should make it so you can only carry a really small amount of grenade launcher grenades. Make it so the splash damage means that you cant use it @ close range like its some sort of silly QUAKE style blast gun or whatever the hell they have in those type of stupid-arse games...

Make the reload time MUCH longer becuase in the middle of a battle it's not so easy to calmy reload a gun like your just sitting on your chair at home...

The main reason why people whore it so much is becuase they can kill at close quarters with a nade from a nade launcher and survive. So DICE tryed to make them bounce so they can't be used at close ranges. (but failed) what they shouldve done is increased splash damage so that there is a high chance the person would die if they simply shot it 1metre infront of them...when it's a game, people (usually no ALWAYS clan people) exploit the game to its max. So certain things have to be done to give those people who want to play normally a chance..

                    EDIT: Speaking of balance:

-The support class should have next to no sprint. That should balance the firepower vs mobility thing. Like in CoD:UO the LMG people were slow and had to deploy their LMG, but had huge firepower.

-The sniper should be much weaker. Snipers shouldnt be spotted. If they are and they get shot they should die becuase they failed in doing what snipers do.

But it's never gonna happen so i'm chatting Sh!t

I hope that this won't be filled with bugs like the last patch though.

i still think the AA has been done wrong. and before u say im whinging my scores have gone up as i can almost guarantee a plane or heli kill when i fire a missile and i hide way up high and dive bomb AA. i adapted but i still preffer a challenge in dogfights and think an AA gun that had teeth would have been a better option

I have always loved being in the plane since BF1942/DC and using the mini map to climb real high and than dive bomb on AA or other targets. A good fix might be to disable the mini-map or other maps(black it out); so the pilots cannot judge really where they are dive bomb bombing from at the high altitudes.

Not an important update above; just some emo kiddies making some lame jokes.

EA has stockholders; all I have to say.

I have to agree I have lost a lot of respect for "clans" in BF2. From my experience so far, I agree, it is usually the clans that exploit the most. Another thing that has bugged me about the clans in my geographical region is that they usually lock their squads (no problem) but I've found that they generally do this so they can "alienate" themselves from the rest of the team more than any kind of organized teamwork. If you happen to be a commander of the team you will get more rebellion from the clan squads than anyone else. Also, if you request support or medic with a clan squad nearby, you're less likely to get any assistance at all.

I completely understand that there are many differing types of "clans" out there. I also know that I've run with some high quality guys when i played Counter strike and I've been finding it very difficult to find that kind of teamplay on BF2.

Enough thread hijacking .. Squad up and play as a team
