After a very long absence from the mod scene, the team behind the Warfront mod are back today with a new update. They are showcasing a ton of new ingame media. Here's what they had to say:
Well, I finally got around to taking some ingame screens of some of our finished static objects. This is a small sampling of our stuff...we have over 150 statics at the moment, and I will try to post more pics as I get the time. Some of these are finished models, some are still in the WIP stages, but I think they will give you a sense of the direction that we are heading in at Warfront. You may also notice some familar looking statics from Battlefield 1942. I have remodeled several old favorites, to give the game that '42 flavor. I hope you enjoy these screens...

I would also like to announce a growing partnership with another mod. For the past few months, Warfront has had a working partnership with the BattleGroup2 mod. This means, in layman's terms, that we are sharing some content and ideas between our mods, and we are looking at other options as well. The test map you see our statics pictured on was created by Benseras, and I would like to thank him for allowing us to use it. Several models and gameplay ideas have been shared so far, and it looks like this will be a very beneficial partnership for all involved, as well as the community as a whole. Look forward to more exciting news on this cooporation as our mods develope further!
Nice to see this mod still alive and kicking. Be sure to visit their site to check out all of the new media.

Re: Warfront Mod Update
Nice statics. :)
About the partnership thing: why not simply merge into one team? It seems to me like they've got very similar goals and artistic styles, and one larger team would probably have a much greater chance of ever getting finished, it would have a larger fanbase, and in the end more content.Comment

Re: Warfront Mod Update
The reason for a partnership rather than a merger is a simple one. Gameplay. Warfront is a realism-based mod, while BG2 is more of the arcade-style found in vanilla BF, with the addition of being historically accurate. Also, BG2 does not use the imagery of the war, while Warfront does (namely, swastikas). By sharing content (based on the same timeperiod, WWII), we can both help each other produce 2 great WWII mods for BF2, while still retaining our on individuality for people who want to play those differing gamestyles.About the partnership thing: why not simply merge into one team? Thank you for your comments, glad you all liked the renders :)Comment
