hi guys i just been lookin at my rank an my stats,first sergant/49,989. http://ubar.bf2s.com/ranks.php
no looking at the rank structure it says theres only one unlock left for me to get next which is at 50,000,an i dont have 2 kits unlocked which is anti tank an engineer plus theres 2 new unlocks arriving any day now the sniper an anti tank!
so my point being that these two new weapons cant be tier unlocks but come with the new patch.
if u have to unlock em then that means a couple of the weapons we wo'nt be able to have due to the number of unlocks in the ranks!

I hear what you are saying but think of it this way. That was the same situation before SF came out too. So it could simply be handled in the same manner, as in just adding in a few extra unlock points on a few of the ranks.

Here is some interesting stats on the sniper rifle.

Taking this into account the sniper rifle will have a 10 shot clip although it is still bolt action.

God only knows why DICE thought we needed another bolt-action sniper rifle. I wonder what will set it apart from the M24 and M95.

My guess is that it is less powerful but they are making it more accurate. But not sure how that is different from the basic us sniper rifle (other than clip size). Expecially since the up comming patch is suppost to rectify some of the accuracy issues with the sniper rifles.

Which I hope they do, I empted a whole clip from a M95 into a guy fixing a bridge on R2 last night and did not kill him!!!

the P90 has a 9mm fifty round clip...does this hold true for patch 1.2??

At the ranges we shoot at each other in BF2 most guns in the game would be super accurate IRL.

i'm just "shooting" in the dark, yes punn intened but the l96a1 may have a longer zoomed scope...just a guess by looking close to the video!

I'm going to be mighty ****ed off with EA/DICE if I need to go up another rank before I can use these two weapons. AT and sniper are my top two kits and I would have unlocked them a long time ago if I could have.

If the extra unlocks aren't given at Lance Corporal and Corporal I think EA should reset the unlocks so that people can choose the weapons they wan't.

Think I agree on this one. Can't see it happening, but it'd make sense.

The camera movement in those videos suck. You would think they would at least capture a first person view, or hold the screen still for more than 2 seconds. (I know BFR doesn't feature a 1st person), but they could have taken some ingame screenshots.

Though, those are two pretty good weapons, lets hope they're going to be worth using.

btw 5.7mm owns body armour/bullet proof glass/ anything "bullet proof" it will go right through it, its awesome

I wish I could slap some sense into you. A game is one thing, saying that bullets that can kill people regardless of body armour or not, are awesome, is a totaly retarded thing to say.

On topic, is it just me or does the snifer rifle look really bad? Looks like a shotgun with an extended barrel.

It's not retarded for him to say that. Obviously, killing people is wrong, but the mechanics of the weapon/bullet can be appreciated. Imagine if Ford could make a car as reliable as Browning made his Ma Deuce (M2) .50 Caliber Machine Gun. There are Ma Deuces still in service from WWII, with only barrel changes. These things blow throw explosive, intricate cycles hundreds of times a minute, and they are still clockwork reliable.

It is one thing to say, "Killing people is awesome!" but it is quite another to appreciate the mechanical genius of a design, much as one would appraise a fine watch.

Anywho, the 5.7 is an incredible ballistic design. However, it does not do too much damage. It makes little holes in people (like a .22 Magnum). However, when engaging targets in body armor, the special bullet slides right through CRISAT (Kevlar + Shock Plates) at 100 meters, and PAGST Helmets at 300 meteres. It makes little holes, but little holes are better than no holes.

If EA/DICE were to render this cartridge accurately, it would do light damage, be laser accurate, and go right through armor/glass/thin walls. And the P90 would fire extremely rapidly. How they do this, however, is still in the air.

As a side note, the PS90 is a civilian gun, firing a reduced (read: non-armor piercing) 5.7x28mm bullet. So yes, you can buy a P90, if only semi-auto and without the tactical performance. The real gun is only sold to police and military. {There is also an FS2000, without Grenade Launcher.}

Further Trivia: The MP7 and the P90 are currently competing to become the standard NATO Personal Defense Weapon (PDW). The P90 is generally thought more lethal, but Germany is in favor of the more penetrating(!!!!) and domestically-produced MP7. (There is bad blood between Germany and Fabrique Nationale relating back to the post WWII spat over the FN FAL.)
