Computer Guy: Ahh, no. I don’t think so. There is no way we can do that. We going to charge you $10 for the memory and hard drive, and $10 for the Video Card.

Whiney Customer: CHARGE ME!!! I bought the computer from you in the first place, what do you mean your going to charge me? Why should I have to pay for it?

Computer Guy: Because it is something EXTRA. Over and above what you originally bought. It is going to cost <st1:country-region><st1>US</st1></st1:country-region> money to get the extra “booster pack” to you. We have to pay the hard working people that MADE IT. And the silly owners want to actually make money off of the booster pack. They keep telling me “hey, I am not putting all my money in this and not getting anything back”. The owners say if they do not make any money off of it, they might as well not do it.

Whiney Customer: But $10 each!! If I buy both of them and actually play them it might actually COST ME 5 or 10 cents and HOUR to play with the booster. I think my entertainment should be FREE man. You know, like all those movies and songs I download off of Bit Torrent. I don’t have to actually PAY anything for those!

Computer Guy: Well, here is an idea. If you don’t want to pay for the “booster pack”, just play with the computer the way you originally bought it from me. You don’t have to buy the booster pack you know.

Whiney Customer: But my friend is getting the upgrade, and I have to have it or he’ll pwn me!! Besides, the original computer you sold me does not work 100% of the time 100% of the way I think it ought to! Sometimes when I play a game someone jumps around and I can’t shoot him. And other times, someone with a grenade launcher actually SHOOTS A GRENADE at me and kills me!! And once every 100 games or so, someone who looks like my enemy is really not my enemy and I kill him on accident! You have to do something about the problems!

Computer Guy: I understand there are some problems with the particular model that you bought. I tell you what, as soon as we can, we will fix the PROBLEMS for FREE. It has always been the philosophy of our company that it is not IF you have problems, it is HOW YOU FIX THE PROBLEMS that are going to inevitably come up. We are willing for fix the problems for free, as soon as we can.

Forum Posters: Man this new booster pack sux, I want to play with all my friends but they might not all be able to afford it since most of us are in college and paying over $20k per year already just to get an education.


Random guy who has no clue: Did you guys here that Al'sharon had a stroke? Yeah he did and HE could afford the pack so quit crying! Also, the navy has ships parked outside Canada.

My friends can't and this means even less servers that I can play on because everyone will be running different mods. It's not much of an upgrade and all it is going to do is give us less choices about where to play and who with,

That means that I am obviously oler than you therefore you should listen and have a little more respect for me. Also, I thought my tech story was pretty cute because it made my point but it wasn't very analagous since hardware on your computer doesn't split a community up. I could have easily used cars or a house but I used computers cause we're all nerds and I figured you'd get my point without thinking about how little the two really have to do with eachother. I wonder what my post count is?


Forum Posters: since our reading and logic skills are past a 5th grade level we could see straight through the story, it still doesn't fix the split yet to come.


Also, I think it was covered already but to the poster on the first page saying he hopes the new guns in the booster don't give an advantage in vanilla, those are only their stock guns not new unlocks. I couldn't find anywhere that said the booster had unlocks, so no worries there.

Why cant they make some sort of splash radius on the Eryx and other. Right now, if its not a direct hit on infantry, it does nothing! ITS A ROCKET LAUNCHER! WHY THE HELL DOESNT IT?

AT rockets have a shaped charge not a HE charge, so they dont make a huge explosion. But correct me if I'm wring

Hardware does not split a community up? I assume you are playing Battlefield 2 on an 486 processor with 16 Meg of RAM on a dail up account. No?

No, 20k and I can afford the game but a lot of my friends cannot. And it's not about my friends anyways, if all they are going to do is reskin some guns and reskin some characters then why charge for it? A crybaby would be someone who cries over everything. Disliking something (such as splitting up a gaming community) is called feedback for the developers.

As for the min hardware specs, you are again avoiding the issue and trying to draw an analogy when it doesn't exist. Sure there are hardware specs, if I don't meet them I don't play, but I do meet them so I expect to be able to play. A more correct analogy would be if they came out with new maps that required 3gigs of ram to play. Would you be ****ed off? Sure you would because you bought the game and they just changed the rules. It's more analogous to NVIDIA charging for new drivers for your graphics card. Sure you can use the drivers you have now but if a game your playing is buggy with your driver version it sux to be you.

I'd ask for my 20k back but fortunately people like you who aren't crybabies suck it up when they raise the taxes across the nation to pay for my education. So on behalf of all the cribabies thank you for paying for my education and not crying about it. But seriously, if you're going to try to bash people try and keep it relevant.

It would probably be pure speculation but will you be able to burn the booster packs once downloaded or will they have some security that precludes burning it? I never buy software online because I trust hard copies far more (even if having to pay a bit more).

As a side note, I dont really care that much about paying for them. What I do care about is the fact that it will split the community even further because those who dont have it wont be able to play on it or the servers that serve it. Now in a perfect world this wouldnt be an issue because either they wouldnt charge or everyone who plays wouldnt have a problem or care about paying. Alas, we are not in a perfect world and the comumity will be further disected. Its a safe bet to assume that it will turn out the same as SF did in that most people are still simply playing the original. This prompts the question, do you have to have SF in order to even use/play the booster packs? If you do then the litteral cost for them isnt simply $10.

Just to address a gross financial missunderstanding. Those of us in college who are paying 20k for classes DO have trouble affording games (even as low as $10) because college itself COSTS 95% of that 20k (which is usually a loan I might add), which doesnt leave much for free spending =P
