    IGN Special Forces Preview

<a href="http://pc.ign.com/">IGN</a> conducted a hands-on session with the upcoming Battlefield 2 expansion, Special Forces. They wrote up a nice preview and included a bunch of <a href="http://media.pc.ign.com/media/759/759744/imgs_1.html">new screenshots</a> and <a href="http://media.pc.ign.com/media/759/759744/vids_1.html">21 gameplay movies</a>.
The eight maps are interesting ones. As mentioned earlier, they're a bit more focused on infantry combat and coordination, but there's still plenty of vehicle action to be had. Smaller maps will focus more on the new ATVs, technicals, and jeeps with some armor thrown in while bigger maps still have a fairly good selection of all of the vehicles.

      Interesting preview.

Could take a while to watch the videos, seems to be loading a little slowly.

      Few points:

      1. Iron Gator map sounds interesting, all taking place on the carrier.
      2. Bit nervous about the teargas, I was feeling a little sick just looking at the static image.
      3. Looks like the zipline lands exactly where you aim it.

Overall, can't wait until next week!

EDIT: Loved that Warlord video, everything looked so... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

It may be that Special Forces isn't a huge leap forward for the series,
I love how after a hype article they still keep a reserved opinion. :p

That being said, this is the most interesting thing I find in the article:
So if you leave a zip-line standing and place a claymore at the bottom, the next person that come zipping down is going to have one hell of a nasty landing.
        Can you say TK magnet?

I thought they were gonna have completely new weapons for BF2:SF? They have the old US Supply Gun and MEC SpecOps gun in there.

They have good players in those videos. Some getting monster kills.

I hope that BF3 uses the crytek 2 engine next time. They created BF2 engine from scratch that's why you all see these bugs.

Was it me or was the Brits speaking english? Er... No Brit accent?

Hope that was to keep the languages a bit secret by putting them all on English voices... It will suck if the Brits don't have a bit of an accent though.

Looks Fantastic though, love the Grapple.

                  It's single player mode.

hmm... I thought that the special forces would me united in fighting the rebels/insurgents, not fighting each other, e.g SAS v Spetsnaz, Navy SEALS v MEC Special forces.

Don't think I'll buy this expansion, for a number of reasons.. main two, I remember buying expansions for BF42 and they were never supported, and the retail copy is still buggy with no mention of any patch coming to fix it.. some minor notes, small maps for close combat fighting is cool, but with a zip line and grappling hook, won't everyone be camping on buildings.. nightvision can go to h*ll, if I wanted that I'd go play ghost recon.. overall just not what I wanted in an expansion, I have a lot more gripes, but I'll save those for another time, help speed up that scroll by, so you an get to the EA a**kisser posts.

Ill stick with buggy retail. they dont deserve my money.

I won't buy it but I hope my brother will hook me up with it for christmas

The grappling hook looks cool but the zip line sounds gay. I mean the actual sound.... zzzzzzZZZZZzzzzz wtf? Anyone agree?

Then not many game must deserve your money... bugs aside this is still a contender for best games of the year!

Nightvision looks extremely well done (its just a few of the maps anyway) and infantry combat is my specialty!

                            Bring on the chaos!

I first thought that Spetznaz and Rebels speak in English, but then after hearing it in many videos, I realized that they enables that option for Englsih Voice-overs only. Which sucked, cuz I wanted to hear the Russians speak and Brits :)

Overall, it's good but it could've been better if they included more weapons like the L96A1(British sniper) which the British actually use, instead of putting in an American sniper rifle...things like that.
