BF2 Editor Beta Released

The long anticipated Editor has finally been released! This is a must for any modder out there wanting to finally make all those creations you dreamed of. Please note that this is an Open Beta and will not feature a complete list of tutorials.

EA and DICE are pleased to announce that today, after two weeks of Closed Beta testing, we are releasing the first public version of the Battlefield 2 editor! Over the last couple of days you've probably seen some of the outstanding work that the Closed Beta teams have created using the tools, and now we're giving everyone else the chance to join the fun. Keep in mind that we are considering this release "Beta" software, so it’s still a little rough around the edges, though we’ve worked out many of the kinks. Also, though most core functionality is editable as of this release, there are several more advanced areas of the tools that are still being worked on. One example of of a tool to be delivered in a future update is the Single Player Editor.

Nice, in the Level Editor there's an option for 128 player maps.

anyone know how to have it install on windows 2000? bf2 installs and runs fine for me with windows 2000...but when I try to install the editor it says that it'll only install on windows xp so it won't even attempt to install...

Because Windows 2000 is not supported.

Cool for the Mod Dev's but I have no patience for this. Good luck though, look forward to seeing what transpires.

Maybe we can get CERN to host one of those on Sundays!

                            (that is very cool though)

Yes! I agree, Go MODS, GO!!
Not that all of us don't already have a copy of the leaked version (Lmao) but I guess this one will probably have some improvments like layout saving correctly and ofcourse the massive problem of maps not even loading.

For those that wonder, here's a preview of the terrain editing:
