The thing that cought my eye the most:

"The expansion pack is being developed by DICE Canada"

Can you all say BF Vietnam....

I was severly disapointed by BF-V. So I won't buy this expansion pack, until I see thousands of forum posts saying that it is the greatest expansion pack since the dawn of the world.

I don't trust DICE Canada to develop a well balanced, bug free and fun game.

I'm with you, Haunted... I will wait (probably forever, we'll see...)

You know what excites me? Community mods! I cannot wait to be able to join servers running the many new mods currently in the works. There will be many new maps, weapons, and even vehicles. I dont need to pay EA for something that our own gaming community can provide in higher quality.

In the mean time, it is vanilla (and hopefully soon patched) BF2 for me. I will go spend my $30 on HalfLife2 instead. Sorry, dont trust 'em at this point.

BF:V wasn't a technological breakthrough in the series it was more of a BF1.5 or BF1.25, sure it added cool new aspects but basically it was BF1942 with some nice new Environmental aspects and a some nice visuals other than that it wasn't much more DICE Canada worked with what they had, now they have a whole new engine in BF2, I don't think it'll disappoint.

Why do people think BFV was THAT BAD. I mean it wasn't great, but it had good mods like POE which saved it. I still think it's ok.

I like the idea of the expansion, it will just make the game more interesting. but i do agree with yig...the game needs more maps. im a big fan of new terrain.

ehm.. so you are saying that BF-V wasn't much more than an expansion pack to BF-1942 ?
Yhea I am with you on that :)

But this time they do develop an expansion pack for BF 2.
So I reall do not understand how this is different.
Actually BF-V provided more than this expansion. Since it had "...some nice new Environmental aspects and a some nice visuals..". But they screwed that up badly, so i fear they will do it again.

My problem with DICE Canada's work on Vietnam was the fact that they weren't able to provide a bug free and well balanced game (as said above). How should that change with this expansion pack ?
              DICE Canada is incompetent.

The expansion packs for BF2 that i am realy lookinf forward to are mods. The mods for BF 1942 were what keept me going, I never bought an expansion pack, since they only provided a couple of new vehicles and maps (and much too few of those).

Welp BF2 has bugs as well so again they are working with what they have, hopefully its more bug free when it comes out this fall as they are improving BF2 now with frequent patches, DICE Canada didn't work on BF2 :).
