Battlefield 2: Special Forces Interview

GameSpot has recently posted an interview with the Battlefield Producer Mike Doran. This interview gives a general rundown of what will be included in the expansion and how it will be different from regular Battlefield 2.
With Battlefield 2 burning up the sales chart since its release in June, EA hasn't wasted any time in commissioning an expansion pack for the game in Battlefield 2: Special Forces. There's a wealth of new content in Special Forces, including an impressive six new armies (compared to just three in Battlefield 2), along with a slew of new maps, weapons, and features. For a quick situation report on the expansion, we caught up with longtime Battlefield producer Mike Doran. Special Forces is expected to ship this winter.

GameSpot: First off, there are a lot of people voicing concern and complaints that current issues in Battlefield 2--such as bugs and balancing--haven't been addressed, but yet DICE is working on an expansion anyway. Would you like to address that?

Mike Doran: This is a common misconception that we'd love to address. The truth is that work on Battlefield 2: Special Forces began several months ago. The expansion pack is being developed by DICE Canada, while DICE Sweden is running the postlaunch support team. To be clear, we are actively working on the next patch, and development of Special Forces has in no way affected our continued efforts towards supporting the base product.

lol.. IMO this expansion is going to suck badly. Zip lines, jet ski's etc, wtf? Only good thing that will come out of it is NV, which can hopefully be used in mods.

Brereton55... Wow, you won't click a simple link just because of something that stupid? Sony has nothing to do with Dice or EA...

I think you should either click the link or miss out...

Interview is too big to post anyways, so get the attachment...

Interesting marketing strategy...Could the officer ranks require the purchase of the Special Ops addon? Hummmmm

I think it's funny how he adds that in at the end about DICE Sweden actively working on the next patch. I guess all the flaming is actaully getting to them.

A Devote fan like myself looks forward to this...

Ah well I am sure people will complain about this too, nature of the beast.

I for one will buy it and enjoy it like I do BF2 now... Along with CoD2 and FEAR when those are released around the same time.

I'm new to the BF series. How much do these expansions usually cost?

i will be buying the expantion... most of the BF2 maps SUCK except for the 3 urban ones... most of the expations have costed around 20 bucks USD, i will also be buying CoD2... since the first one was a blast in SP mode (played the SP mode prolly 4 times... awesomely fun)

I'll see when it's out, reviewed and priced if I buy it or not, one thing I know: 8 maps is poor. I don't care much about new armies and weapons. I want maps. Free maps. Maps. Maps. And maps.
