As we reported last night, EA has officially revealed its own digital distribution system called Origin. The website for Origin already includes about 150 different titles, both for the PC and console. PC titles can be downloaded to your hard drive immediately upon purchase, console titles will still need to be shipped to you (obviously).
Origin's services include an optional mobile application, social networking functions such as friends lists and the means to see what your buddies are playing at that moment in time.
EA, as an effort to pull customers into using its new service, are offering up a number of Origin exclusive items and bonuses for a few titles. These titles include Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, and Alice: Madness Returns among others. The biggest potential draw is the fact that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be digitally sold only through Origin.
