  • The Pitt Released and then Pulled

The DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, was released on the Xbox Live Marketplace and quite quickly was removed from the Marketplace. Apparently the build that was went live to gamers all over was corrupted and ended up almost 200 MB short of what the file size should have actually been.

Textures are missing, "no access" placeholders were left visible, complete areas of the map are missing and other such graphical oddities. These issues are coupled with a number of reports that the incomplete DLC has crashed far more than Fallout 3 ever has. These issues can be seen in these images snapped by a forum poster, Dr. Baltar, at Somethingawful.

An update on the Bethesda Blog sheds some light as to what is going on with the DLC.
We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly.
